Hameed in the runs for Notts with 50s in both innings. Good to see. Hope he kicks on.

Hopefully England's opening woes have been solved for a wee while, but nice to have another option.

Dawson and Donald who is injured. Northeast the only player in the side averaging above 30 in first class cricket although Sussex pretty much the so it is probably not that unusual. Few guys playing for the first or second time in both sides as well.

Good day’s play at Chelmsford where Essex have manoeuvred themselves into possibly being favourites to win this game when at the start of the day that option may have been the least likely, especially when Adam Wheater was run out breaking his partnership with RTD with us still 174 runs in arrears.

However, Essex have a pretty decent bowling unit there despite the lack of an overseas bowler and they came to the fore this afternoon. Handy when you have a high quality off spinner wheeling away unchanged for hours and Jamie Porter found his length and areas much more today compared to the opening day.

Exciting day in store tomorrow, 202 runs to win, expect Sir Alastair to be a key man as is always the case in chases such as this.

C Overton and Robinson both look better bowlers than last year. Shame for their sake that they have to get past Anderson, Broad and Woakes to get in the England side.
england have a bowler rotation strategy and anderson/broad aren't getting any younger. decent chance they'll get a run sooner than you might think if they perform.

Big chase today for Essex and it’ll be a good test for this batting line-up without the likes of Bopara and Lawrence in their ranks. Still expect Essex to have enough experience with the bat to get over the line, Browne who made some runs in the first innings, new captain Tom Westley, Sir Alastair, Chopra, RTD, Wheater, of the specialist batsmen, that’s a mountain load of county cricket (and higher) experience.

Pitch was keeping low generally yesterday so we’ll have to be guarded against that as we will the amount of spin Harmer got out of the pitch on three and Qadri and O’Riordan will be rubbing their hands, but these batters are no strangers to Chelmsford. Can never rule out Darren Stevens doing something remarkable either, should be a really good day.

there's a five day final for this? Well that's something.

Although no cross-pool matches and two group winners is a bold move Bob

Derby started the chase well, be interesting to see how many of the smaller div 2 sides can win against the div 1s.

Anyone facing Surrey's current line-up will fancy their chances.

So I'm watching Essex vs Kent this afternoon.

Good game Middlesex Surrey, if they continue the way they have in the last ten overs they will need about 150 off 20

Proctor taking too long to reach his ton for northants, wont be enough time now to declare and bowl the oppo out

Good finish at Chelmsford.
Fantastic finish at Essex, neither side has quite been able to assume complete control at any point during this game, just when the other side look out of it they Battle back into contention. Four-day cricket.....love it!

No surprise that with the attack Lancs had out Leicestershire beat us

...... but the important question is which of Rory Burns and Dom Sibley are going to have to give way for the mighty Haseeb Hameed?

Solid chase but not much in that Notts bowling attack it seems
Great chase by Derby, was listening to the B.B.C local radio commentary, finished 1.15 a.m. Perth time. Record runchase against a county by them, even if it wasn't Notts. stongest attack.

Saw Hudson-Prentice at Chesterfield last year, he is going to be a really fine player with both bat & ball.

Great to have cricket back, even if nobody can attend.
