Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Looking at the figures, Thirimanne had one of his better records in tests against India. Two fifties in five tests and averaged 22. Against England he played 8 tests and averaged 11, with a high score of 38.

This reminds me of fun Rubel stats:

Averages 249 against India
Yet to take a wicket against Pakistan after 47 overs
His best figures of 5/166 came against NZ at an economy of nearly 6
If you take out Zimbabwe he has 22 wickets in 26 Tests @ 101
Averages 316 at a strike rate of 498 in drawn matches

He’s on another level. Plenty of cricketers can’t cope in Tests but being repeatedly picked over 10+ years to showcase your badness (as a first class cricketer, even) all around the world is a special case.

Lol, knew he was poor, but never realized Rubel was this horrific. His bowling averages over the course of last decade look similar to an ATG batsman who never had a trough.

Never averaged below 50 in any year until 2020. He averages 37 this year.

Averages 104 (!) at home and 59 away from home. Can bet that no other bowler has been nearly twice as good(or rather half as worse) abroad as at home for over a decade.

His strike rate tops 100 against every team except Zimbabwe. Against India, it is 318.

His team has won the toss though, on 18 of the 27 matches that he has played, and that remains his greatest contribution.

England actually have a lot to thank him for. If he didn’t send them packing in 2015 they wouldn’t have completely revamped their playing style and become the best ODI side in the world.

Since I can't find the thread where players who played in the most consecutive Tests was being discussed... here's the top 20 players who went the longest time without being dropped:

Australia has a policy of dropping batsmen after a couple of bad innings to build hunger in them.

In spite of having watched the highlights plenty of times before, I've only just now realised that the first Australia vs England match in 1979–80 had both a Willey and a Wiener playing in the same test.

Went to youtube after recent discussions, Craig Matthews is damn underrated
Remember thinking he was very good when he played. Thought even that he was the hardest SA bowler to score off and they had Donald, Fannie and Pollock. But his stats don't stack up to that impression.

I didn't want to clutter up the new ATVG draft thread, but ATVG confuses me. I consider a great player someone that would make the XI for the period they played in (for country or World). So an ATG then obviously makes the XI for the entire history of cricket (country or World).

What is an ATVG player then, someone that makes the 3rd XI after ATG's picked in 1st and 2nd XI's?

That's just, like, your opinion man.
