Hi Eddie, yeah not a great take from me, but not the worst in here. TBH 60% of the thread seemed to be about his looks. Cricketweb, always with the apposite opinions on who looks "girly".

Tbf think parts of the discussion would be at the very least frowned upon today. Was a fun read through.

David Beckham has a lot to answer for imo. Brought metro-***uality into sport. It's a cancer killing the game. FFS a bloke in our team this year missed a game coz he was at the markets with his gf helping her set up a ****ing cake stall.
Poof.

The world's gone ****ing mad.
The torchbearer of masculinity now drinks vegan milk. Itstl.

I just churned through pages of totally ill-informed rubbish written about Broad. How many have had the decency to admit they were wrong since then?

Perhaps you should read the article by sports writer David Mark posted on the ABC site today.

The headline reads:

"Why England's James Anderson and Stuart Broad are the greatest Test cricket pace duo we've seen"

www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-29/stuart-broad-james-anderson-best-test-fast-bowling-duo/12499442

I don't necessarily agree with the headline but Marks provides some thought provoking facts to support his lead.

Now I'll sit back and wait for the outrage.

I dunno whether it was all nonsense, I can definitely see the likeness between him and Evan Rachel Wood.

I am sure many of us did change our minds pretty quickly though, I mean Uppercut did in this thread, I think just because we don't personally apologize for every bad take in the thread it appears, probably shouldn't count against us, I think most of us would have many more posts, just saying "**** I was wrong there".

Not as wrong as suggesting Broad and Anderson are better than Garner-Marshall Statham-Trueman, Pollock-Donald, Lillee-Thomson, but wrong nonetheless.

Kinda dated but I think people were just joking around. The concept of 'punchable face' on the other hand is just completely foreign to me, always has been

I haven't seen this thread before and can't specifically remember what I thought of Broad in 2009. Goughy tended to go over the top when he didn't rate a cricketer. He had some very bizarre comments on Ben Holioake. I'm sure I didn't see Broad getting anywhere near 500 wickets. Whatever I thought at the time probably wouldn't match my worst prediction of Neil Foster getting close to 300 wickets.
I haven't read the best ever pair article so don't know the context, but I think I'd still prefer Wasim and his mate.

I'll pick Rabada over Ishant/Shami anywhere idgaf about his India record. I'd probably pick Broad too tbh but atleast its a defensible to not do so now.
