Strauss made a good point on commentary there about how Buttler looked a lot better when he came straight off the IPL for a test series. For some batsmen, when you are actually thinking about hitting the ball and scoring runs instead of just staying there, mentally it just makes such a big difference. Footwork becomes a lot more decisive, you just naturally seem to get into better positions even to defend or leave... Key is to walk the tight rope between the positivity and going all hail Mary with the stroke play.

an intelligent response. i assume you watch him eat?

i don't think you've met many humans, which is understandable because you're a libertarian in your mother's basement. some people are large. diet can exacerbate it, but others are just gon' be huge. someone at work is a 6 foot 5 woman who probably weighs 150kg and i think she might actually have gigantism or whatever it's called.

rakheem himself is really ****in tall too. he's 6 foot 6 and likely a naturally heavy man. you could be right, he might enjoy a pie or ten, but to assume he does and call him a disgrace when he's already a better athlete than you'll ever be #freedomboi is entertaining. please continue.
Just because he's tall does not excuse him for eating a badly as he obviously does, which he obviously does or he wouldn't be so fat. It is a disgrace for any professional sportsperson to be and he is negatively impacting the team vs if he was in better shape. This is irrefutable and you need to stop supporting people destroying themselves.

brother i, as much as the next guy, think we should reframe the discussion about eating addictions to be more like how we treat cigarette and alcohol addictions (ie that it's very bad and shouldn't be tolerated)

but failing to be cognizant of the fact different people have different body types is absolute clownery. i'm not a science guy, not at all, but if there's one science i do know it's sports science and nutritional science. and if you've got an endomorphic body type which big rakheem very obviously does (because to have that size while undergoing the training regime of a professional athlete you'd have to) then naturally you're of a bigger build and your neutral weight may well be very heavy set.

seriously

like do you think while the other players are running, bowling, batting, etc, he sits there downing a trump special (two filet of fish, two bigmacs, large chips and a chocolate thickshake)

no! obviously if the guy didn't put in at training and couldn't handle the rigour of five days of cricket he would not be in the team, he would not be in FC cricket, he would not even be playing rep.

what saddens me most is when cornwall has a bad game like every athlete does clowns like you will rush to blame it on his weight. nobody attributes a nathan lyon bad game to the fact he's weedy and looks like a gray alien (well except for TJB). yes. he is a big fella. yes. he's overweight. he's also a professional athlete and i think the nutritional and dietetics people in the windies setup would know a bit more about how the guy's eating and training than you would champ

I think you need to chill out about people being fat. Just in general.

There are tons of relatively unfit Test cricketers and most of them will have passed us by because they don't have obvious moobs. I've managed to go through life being skinny and with a 100m upwards of 20 seconds and I'm sure there are cricketers who have managed the same thing.

We haven't even seen Cornwall flagging in the field or deteriorating at the end of the day, or the like. You've certainly never seen him eat. Until we do calling him disgracefully unfit is just pointing the finger at the nearest bloke who doesn't look right, and that practice has a bit of an unwelcome history, doesn't it?

Whatever it takes!!!

too soon?

EDIT: see others mentioned it already. Its nice to see the teams honor her like this, think it is supposed to be every year, right? And the money will be used for further cancer research, just like with the McGrath foundation?

I'm not saying that he should end up looking like how Holder looks (for example) but he shouldn't have such an obvious gut, and body shape doesn't determine whether a person ends up fat or not.

Not cancer research, i believe they provide bereavement care both pre and post death to family and patient. Really good, important niche to fill.
