WI are folding meekly here. This was a good opportunity for them to sneak a draw with no Jofra/Anderson to cope with, and a day lost to rain. Had they survived Broad's 2nd ball spell yesterday, I'm not sure England would have found a 2nd wind and knocked them over, with Bess not really looking that threatening.

Surely they'll play Gabriel. If Chemar comes in it would be for Roach, who seems to be out of form, don't you think?
Roach has bowled well IMHO, he has had so many plays and misses. He also bowls lots of overs and has less strain on his body. Whereas Shannon is all muscle and came back from injury just before this tour etc. I'd rest Shannon.

Is 'play your natural game' as advice still apply when your natural game is dobbing it straight to cover?

Strap in I guess

It's England in England. They do tend to get a bit irrepressible at times, as most teams have discovered over the last ten years. What matters more is that WI show the fight to bounce back from this on the field and at the management level by making at least a few of the selections you suggest.
Agreed. England have really been excellent in this test.

Still, our batting has been poor for too long and something needs to be done.

I know England fans are well aware of this already, but my word Broad literally has no clue what is lbw and what is not does he?

The amount of times I've seen him celebrappeal balls going miles over the top etc. Must be a nightmare to captain him during the DRS era.

One thing that makes it easier is that if he bothers to appeal you know it's not out.

Well these two have batted 45 minutes and haven't really looked in much trouble despite the scoreline. If they can get to tea with Holder still yet to bat they've got every chance of surviving.

Yeah Roach and Joseph can also hang around for a bit so all isn't lost yet. But these two absolutely need to make it to tea without further damage.

Would really consider bringing Leach straight in for the last Test. Might seem harsh on Bess but he's just far more reliable. Was unfortunate to lose his place because of illness in the first place.

If not then assess after the last Test with a view to bringing him in against Pakistan.

I was about to suggest that Bess might be bowling himself out of the next test. He really hasn't threatened here so far.
