ODI Debut Chronology draft

I honestly haven't watched much Ajmal but he's putting up some very good numbers. Is his bowling as good as his average suggests?

Yes - although he didn't really bowl his doosras, he threw them. He was perhaps the last beneficiary before chucking laws became strict.

The normal awards that everyone else has
Red Hill has picked 3 openers and 2 number 3s and it's totally messed with my calculations every time.
I’m just going for a quality player each time and not worrying too much about where they batted. I’m sure that Amla and Root both have the games to bat anywhere from 1-4 in the order, especially with KP and Lloyd who can come in anywhere from 20 overs onward and accelerate quickly.

Particularly in ODIs I think batting position is vitally important. For example, look at Steve Smith. Averages in the 30s batting at 4 and over 50 at 3.

You're welcome to draft who you like but when it comes to voting I personally take into account the batting positions that players are picked for.

Whatever it takes!!!
Yeah but Smith batting at 4 after a suss opening pair and #3 is basically the same as him batting at 3 after Warner and Finch. Guess I am just saying the batting position + the team composition should all factor in, not just the position.

That's a fine side, though Fairbrother and Shahid Afridi look out of place next to the other names. I still think Hogg would have been a better fit for you.

Yeah I stuffed my bowling up a bit. And I picked Fairbrother because I didn't realise there'd be so many other good batting options still available at the end, I thought he'd be like an economic pick if that makes sense

And Afridi at least can be promoted to slog if needed. None of the other bats are real dashers like him in the Buttler/Maxwell mould. Sometimes you need a gamebreaking slogger in a side IMO

For my final pick, I have a choice between two players who have virtually the same amount of runs. In the end I've decided to take

Babar Azam (2015-05-31)

Chanderpaul was such a lovely pick. His versatility gave me options right to the end. In various iterations of my team I had him batting at 2, 3, 4 and 6, based on who I could get.
