I honestly thought you'd go for a bowling all-rounder though...

Yeah, perhaps I tend to overrate Steve Waugh's bowling a bit I guess. He had a long period of his ODI career as a legitmate allrounder though who bowled his full quota or close to it more often than not. Iceman's a pretty solid nickname to have as well when its related to your death bowling - it seems like his death bowling in his prime as a bowler is kinda a moderate upgrade on Stoinis

Kinda like Wilfred Rhodes's batting in test drafts, it's kinda hard to know how he'l be received by voters on his second skill

Test match 5th bowler is different from ODI 5th bowler though. Test match 5th bowler doesn't need to bowl close to 1/5 th of the overs.

oh, I'm saying his ODI bowling was more legit than his test bowling. Wasn't it? I assume Iceman wasn't given to him as a nickname for his test bowling

weldone did not meant that. What he is saying is that expecting 10 overs each game from Steve Waugh is too much of an ask.

Well I dunno, he took just shy of 200 wickets in the format. For about a decade it was perfectly reasonable to expect 10 overs from him each game. He was a death bowler too, which I think elevates him above other 'parttimers' of similar ilk. Not a fill-in-for-a-few in the middle type bowler.

But yeah, he's splitting his 10 with KW anyway hehe. Who would be used to sneak in a couple around the 30th over or so

No, I was commenting about the Wilfred Rhodes comparison. Rhodes doesn't need to bowl 1/5th of the overs in a test match draft team.

ah yeah i get that. well would you to hesitate to vote for a draft side where he's being used as the frontline spinner in a test team? if he was also opening the batting.

Yes I would hesitate if a ATG draft team has Rhodes as its main frontline spinner. No offence mate - btw your frontline pace attack of Wasim-Donald-Lee is superb. And I also agree about giving 10 overs to Afridi.

I really need someone who can bat 7 and bowl 10 overs, so Ravi Jadeja fits the mould. 2009-02-08

Going to be bit of cat and mouse now for last few picks.

I'll go Steven Smith (2010-02-19)

Nothing like having to bat players out of position to accommodate the available keeper.
