I'm enjoying Leipzig rotating who's turn it is to give Dele a kicking.

Spurs lucky that Leipzig have been quite poor in the final third. Wasted so many promising positions.

Feel sorry for Lloris, he'll struggle to block all the abuse he'll get on Twitter.
After Ederson's first mistake on Sunday we were chatting about how many "howlers" involve low powerful shots that the keeper gets something on but can't keep out. Have to conclude that they're much harder saves than they look and even the best keepers can't pull them off every time.

It's what separates De Gea from many other keepers in that his natural style of saving with his feet stops a lot that are in the uncomfortable zone (low, but near the body so getting a hand down is an awkward thing - its easier to stop a low shot on the dive than falling onto it). When it comes to low shots taken quickly from close (eg a ball across the pen area hit first time, as opposed to a proper one on one situation) he's currently almost peerless

Schmeichel had a different but just as effective style, in that he'd almost dive on the spot to get his hand down before his body (think it was Rapid Vienna one of his best). It meant he had the freedom to swing his arm at the ball and claw it away with a strong hand, without his body getting in the way. Many goalkeepers focus on getting their body down as a bigger barrier against the ball, but that limits their arm movements. You watch Ederson on the goal and his body falls to the floor, with his arms slow to move. Compare that to someone like Schmeichel who'd jump and give their arm the space to move

I didn't think the first one was a gaffe at all tbh. One of those ones where he "might" have done better, but the fact that he didn't was no big deal

Definitely one where a keeper with worse positioning (let's call him J. Pickford) doesn't even get a hand to it and doesn't get criticised.

It's one of the worst football clichés imo
I don't even know where it comes from. And looking at Leipzig's 2nd goal last night, where the cliche got dusted down and aired, surely from the position the goal was scored from it would have been worse if Lloris was beaten to his left?
