Oh I was thinking of the Mark Watson one with Watson slagging him off, but the rest were legit Cameron Slater memories haha.

I remember going on whaleoil afterwards to see the reaction and the people in the comments were saying thing like “I really believed he was going to do it”
Ryder had initially been keen to fight Craig McMillan after McMillan blamed him for NZ losing a T20 to South Africa. McMillan said he didn't have time to prepare and they brought in Mark Watson. I remember at the time being hopeful that the discipline and fitness from boxing would help resurrect Ryder's international career, but sadly it didn't last.

This scorecard brings back memories of just how phenomenal Marchant de Lange looked when he first burst on the scene. Makes me a bit sad really

Highlights of round so far - Colin Maiden oval so brown it looks like it should be somewhere in the northern territory.

Dunno. But obviously last minute, as Finn Allen is currently playing 2 live games at once. 1 in Invercargill and 1 in Auckland.
Chapman was named in the 12 on Auckland Cricket website on Monday, so must have been a last minute illness / injury. Nothing mentioned in the day 1 review on AC website.

Allen must have batted in Invercargill for "A"s on Monday, then flown up Mon evening / Tues morning to bat in Auckland on Tuesday.

It's not really a mystery, if you watch the clip linked to his retired not out, you can clearly see him hopping after pulling a leg muscle.
OK, so poor scoring then by the online scorer, should have used retired hurt.

Poor guy must have frazzled brain by having scored to many mickey mouse 15-a-side warm ups.

On the drought-ridden Colin Maiden Oval discussion. Wellington went in again with 5 seamers and no specialist spinner (and bowled Auckland out for sub-200).

If you haven't already, take a mental screenshot of that Will-Young-dismissal-template against Smith today. Has happened many many times - half forward to a ball that is not full enough to go forward to, edges behind. It does make me a little sceptical of him as an opener.
