Assume Smuts will play again, they may also need the overs and he is touring India where he may be required to bowl. Think van der Dussen is in the side only because of Bavuma being out and if anyone goes down on the eve of the game.

A nice surprise.
Indeed. It does seem like they're starting to move away from appearing to be picking players predominantly based on experience. Hopefully this will continue when the A side is next selected and we'll see more younger players and fewer journeymen who are never going to progress any further.

Do you reckon there has been a realisation that this is the way forward ? It seemed for so much of the summer not to be. But results wise might have made them realise it ?

Actually excited to see the SA A squads now too.

Rabada, Ngidi, Nortje, Sipamla, Dupavillon with caps now.

Reckon Coetzee, Jansen and Ntini are our next 3 I've got hopes for. Jansen and Ntini aren't 140 kph yet but they bounce bowlers.

I think they are moving forwards with this... as you say the SA A selection and for me WI tour will tell us much.

Agreed. Batting still has a way to go. But as we have been saying - over the next few years there should be no problem with lack of talent and options.

Ntini's impressed me this season. I wasn't entirely sold on him at the start, wondering if there was perhaps a bit too much hype as a result of him being Makhaya's son, but he's definitely starting to come into his own.

Was really surprised when I saw him in that first game in Oudtshoorn. Running in with good aggression , good bounce and a bit of nip off the seam.

I'm the same, didn't quite see that before. Think he did have an injury during the u19 CWC because he had surgery right after it. Maybe that was the reason.

Biggest thing I take from the Dupavillon selection is hopefully SA A 4-day and maybe even test squad follows.

Can understand them keeping a left-armer in Beuran Hendricks around the group. It seemed like they were lining up Nandre Burger after Sipamla but he will need to improve performance to be un-droppable from the Cobras first.

So we getting a better understanding about where our seam bowling is moving forward.

Malan, Smuts, Klaasen, Verreynne, Miller with good ODI seasons with the bat makes things interesting. With hopefully a young SA A limited over batting group selected we building options there.
