Lillee in for Garner
No way :) Garner is an objectively better bowler afaic. Performed everywhere against everyone, criminally under-rated in this forum.

By the way, curious to know, do you rate Beefy above Garner as a bowler ?

Fred Trueman is a lock in place of Cairns

He should be in for Donald tbh. Allan was never a risk of having a heart attack, let's be honest.

There's hopefully a better spinner around than Bedi who qualifies. Terrific bloke and a very good bowler, but you'd hope for better.

Edit: shame current players DNQ. Could ditch Cairns and bat TPC at four. That line up would be very very difficult to bowl out twice.

TPC should end up playing well above 75 tests. Haven't included any current players hence. Cairns and Bedi are obviously replacable, but not getting better options for that criteria.

cant imagine fred trueman not making it to the team
Trueman was an ATG but there is sizable disparity between home and away records. He had great peer reputation and self proclaimed himself as "the greatest bowler who ever drew breath", but White Lightning still wins it for me, not by much though.

Just seen a clip on the news of the only known action shots of Bradman in colour. It was his last game at the SCG apparently, and a testimonial match. In this clip he's seen smashing a Miller bumper and pulling a slow bowler too. From memory he made 53 in that game.

I will give it a try for 50-74 tests

Jack Hobbs
Herbert Sutcliffe
Don Bradman
Frank Worrell
Andy Flower
Keith Miller
Chris Cairns
Wally Grout (wk)
Joel Garner
Bishen Singh Bedi
Allan Donald
How could I have missed Benaud ? His inclusion makes it easy for me to include Trueman or Lillee in the team.

Jack Hobbs
Herbert Sutcliffe
Don Bradman
Frank Worrell
Andy Flower
Keith Miller
Richie Benaud
Wally Grout (wk)
Fred Trueman / Dennis Lillee
Joel Garner
Allan Donald

It'll be hard to dismantle that top order.

Not sure, but I feel like this is probably comparable to a not 50-74 tests, mostly due to bradman. Not a fan of grout ahead of of gilchrist, or benuad ahead of whoever, but most of the other calls are really marginal, even if i would have picked almost no none of these guys in my first XI.

The "twenty-something Tests" XI is pretty strong:

WG Grace
Bill Ponsford
George Headley
Graeme Pollock
Stanley Jackson
Aubrey Faulkner
Jack Gregory
Don Tallon+
Bill O'Reilly
Sydney Barnes
Colin Croft

with plenty of alternatives too (Colin Bland, Darren Lehmann, Eddie Paynter, Douglas Jardine, Ryan Harris, Peter Pollock, Neil Adcock, Johnny Wardle...)

The "thirty-something Tests" XI is (I would say) less good:

Bill Woodfull
Eddie Barlow
Stan McCabe
Vijay Hazare
Dudley Nourse
Charlie Macartney
Maurice Tate
Max Walker
Jack Blackham+
Fazal Mahmood
Clarrie Grimmett

Bradman's team of 50-59 Tests is also very strong:

Hanif Mohammad
Herbert Sutcliffe
Don Bradman
Frank Worrell
Patsy Hendren
Tony Greig
Keith Miller
Wilfred Rhodes
Wally Grout+
Alec Bedser
Joel Garner

as is the 40-49 Tests team:

Bruce Mitchell
Arthur Morris
Clem Hill
Everton Weekes
Lindsay Hassett
Clyde Walcott+
Monty Noble
Alan Davidson
Jim Laker
Andy Roberts
Ian Bishop

shane warne has picked an aussie XI from his playing days...

Hayden
Slater
Ponting
M.Waugh
Border *
S. Waugh
Gilchrist +
May
Gillespie
McGrath
Reid

Surprised by the inclusion of S.Waugh and exclusion of Healy, considering his equation with Tugga, and his preference for Healy over Gilly in all his rankings so far.

Also, McGill is definitely better than May, isn't he?
