yeh was also wondering this? I see Neesham just got Rahane and would be interested in seeing it.

Thoughts on the decks leading into the series? Is it gonna be a green tops first day type stuff OR Roady McRoads as we are so used to seeing now, particularly against stronger sides?
Cause heaven forbid I'm backing Indias seam attack against our top order, and also figure they have more technically sound defensive type players. Personally I'll still prefer THAT contest than Southee centuries with the ball at 2.5 RPO.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
India taking the interesting tactic of trying to make Kuggeleijn look like a viable test option to help them down the road.

Unfortunately for Kuggs these wickets won't go in the record books. The pitch looks green and tacky as it would on the first day. I won't be surprised if Prithvi Shaw or Gill will bat again. I wouldn't read too much into this, it's just a warm up.

NZ pitches for the last 5 years have typically been greentops that give a hint of movement in the first two sessions of the game before it ends up as Roady McRoad.

Since 2011 only 4 times has the team that won the toss in NZ batted first. Each time this decision was made, the team did not win. (3 draws, 1 loss). Unless anything remarkably changes in NZ conditions, it will always be best to bowl first and make the most of the superficial greenery because it WILL flatten out.

Yep, kinda figured there would be stats to back that up. The ol can't win it in the first day, but sure can lose it if ya bat first on a greentop.
Funnily enough, as annoying as HOW flat the wickets tend to even out, (Day 3/4 sometimes being the best to bat on), the first innings shoutouts and a general contest between bat and ball forever makes for better more intriguing matches. What I fear is a Rahane/Pujara/Kohli Day 3 open wicket against the likes of De Grandhomme and Santner.

Still back to watching THAT greentop series, boy oh boy how I miss watching PEAK Bond.

They were back up and running for that one (just shy of a half volley, played on the walk, edged to first slip)

They may have lost Kuggeleijn's wickets in the seventh over with some camera malfunctioning going on.
Agarwal chases a short ball outside off stump, pushes hard at it and nicks it to the keeper. Gill caught at third slip.
The earliest overs look like they are there, just expect malfunctioning problems.

Good recovery from Vihari and Pujara.

Agarwal is having an absolute nightmare tour so far, isn't he?

Is it actually Jamie Gibson playing or did someone muck up and it's actually Zak?
After that game that's still recorded as Flynn and Ellis being keepers, and Fletcher and Seifert captains (it was a few years ago now and they still haven't fixed it) I'm going to assume Zak.

I doubt @ndcricket's Jake Gibson was expecting to get on the park today, but with a couple of players ill (incl. named captain Daryl Mitchell) he's picked up the challenge nicely against India at Seddon Park for the #NZXI #NZvIND Test warmup. Figures of 5-1-7-0 at lunch.

Not often you see one partnership dominate a team score to that extent. I'm assuming agarwal is getting out to the short stuff? I was kinda hoping the non Wagner NZ bowlers hadn't noticed how shite his back foot game is.

If India want to do well on this tour they'd be well advised to only get out to Wagner, frequently.

Looks like they will be.

Oh I notice the Tests are going to be 11.30am starts.

Just when you suspect that desiccating 'businessman has sucked about as much juice out of his fruit as he's likely to get out of them, that he's already commoditised that fruit to the max, he'll stumble upon another little quirk and nicety in the narrative surrounding a match (whether morning moisture will offer a bit more for the bowling team) he can extract entirely from the product.
