howsie inventing ghost stories here.

he's also hit 140kph sometimes. i think his issue is less losing 5 clicks and more relying on trick deliveries instead of his steep bounce.

agree he's been average since returning.

Whatever it takes!!!
I still think if we are to play Jadeja regularly he has to bat no lower than 5. Not sure if sticking Rahul at 6 will help but really we are not finding answers to the holes we already have in the line up. The #4 and wicket keeper questions have dominated so much that we forgot how bad our lower middle order is and has been. The leggies being this bad at fielding and batting and also being so susceptible to being taken apart actually starts to make me think we should look at blokes like Gautham and Shreyas Gopal. And Surya Kumar Yadav HAS to get a gig.

In today's games there were no holes at 4 or 5 or 6, right?

Manish batted well but I would not call it a great performance and the way they struggled to get boundaries after 43 shows there is still miles of improvement left. I just don't think Manish Pandey cuts it at #6 for either side, even though he has done a brilliant job of it. He can be a great #6 if we had 2 others in the top 5 who can bowl. Right now we don't, so no other go but to find a #6 who can bowl as well.

See what happens when you play 6 batsmen and 5 bowlers?

Folks just gotta admit modern LO cricket has gone well past the days of play your best batsmen and best bowlers funda. The wickets are getting flatter neutralizing even the good bowlers, batsmen are getting smarter and stronger when it comes to big hits thanks to T20 and grounds are becoming smaller and bats are becoming heavier and stronger. You need to start shopping for multi-skilled players and invest in players who can go on to be such ones for you instead of wasting your time with 3 wicket keepers and 3 openers and 3 number 3s and 4 number 11s. That is just not gonna cut it anymore.

Top quality inning by Guptill today. The shots were out of the world. Shame it was cut short nevertheless to a very good nut. Hoping for a good long inning from Kane.

I know Jimmy isn't what his talent could lend itself to be, but these commentators honestly are giving him a level of scrutiny that isn't anywhere near being applied to any other player in the side.

Remember when they tried opening with him before the 2015 World Cup. Good times.

How much better does Guptill look when he’s not opening with Munners?

Yeah, exactly. Came back in 2019 and was very, very good pre World Cup too.

Think of the lean trots that Latham's had, that Southee is still having, Santner being a passenger in Test cricket, CdG in limited overs...none of them had anywhere near the blowtorch Jimmy's had.

Yeah they're really pumping this "Neesham doesn't finish games off" narrative which I had never heard of before the game the other day, and I can't say his supposed inability to so that is any different to the players around him.
