***Official*** India in New Zealand 2020

Phew well done NZ, though India got very close that's a massive effort given it was an second-choice and under-strength attack on the park today.

Jadeja again, what an asset. Don't think NZ would have ever relaxed while he was out there.

Southee bowling out early and not having to bowl at the death is about the best tactics I've seen from an NZ captain since about 1992, tbh.
i mentioned this in the last game, the only time southee needs to bowl in his current form in white ball cricket is at the beginning. The skim-it sorts who don't have variety almost always get taken apart at the death. we saw what saini did to CdG.

Whatever it takes!!!
Well done NZ. Thoroughly outplayed us in both ODIs. Our team seems to have taken it a bit too easy against a class side and paying the price. That batting line up from NZ, once KW is back at 3, looks so so good, even with CDG and Neesh never really living up to their potential.

I won't mind this series loss if it means the end of certain experiments with our side. Hopefully we can get in Suryakumar Yadav for Jadhav and figure out if Dube can ever really cut it at this level as a batsman or otherwise wave him goodbye. I wonder if they can try Shreyas Gopal as our leggie for the ODI set up.

If only Bennett had been there to combine with Neesham at the death in the World Cup final ...
Yup the insistence on playing Boult and Southee for each and every ODI in the last 5 years has come at an opportunity cost you feel. Bennett's getting more comfortable with each game, should definitely be in the frame for the Australia trip next month.

Think NZ should use him more like they have Milne/Ferguson, he's struggling to control the new ball but provided a very compelling option in the middle and at the death.

I know we’re not supposed to talk about it but...Neesham won us the World Cup in the 49th (sans Boult’s **** up) and then Boult made up for it by winning us the game in the 50th (sans Stokes’ Deflection of God)....so basically, don’t even say anything about our death bowling in the WC final

Could Bennett be better off being used as a first change seaming option? Seems to get better as the match progresses...but very loose and uncertain with the new ball on a consistent basis so far.

Mighty nice win for the BC's. The confidence is slowly coming back and hopefully it translates into the other formats. Seriously impressed by Jamieson. Real intensity about the way he plays. He could very well become a permanent fixture. Don't know who's place he would take in the best 11 but he's definitely earned himself some more opportunities. Would like to see him, Kuggelejin, Bennett, Boult and Ferguson take on Aus in the upcoming LO games.

Yeah agree with the larger point. Neesham still feels like a pressure release when he first comes on to bowl, but seems to keep his nerve for the most part at the business end of the innings. Playing the role that Anderson was performing around 2014-16. Would like to see more runs from him though, too good a player to be missing out as much as he has this series.

Wouldn't exactly give NZC 100% credit for those tactics. Their hand was forced as Southee was ill. Plan was to have him bowl his 10 and get off the field ASAP so he could continue his treatment. Commentators kept on mentioning it throughout his second spell. If he was fit they definitely would have had him bowl at the death and s*** the bed. If anything this should be the permanent new template for Henry when he comes back. Not for Southee. He shouldn't be a part of the team after this ODI series.

These two losses show the lack of experience and balance in the Indian ODI side. I reckon Dhawan and Rohit opening with guys like Rahane/Rayudu/Dhoni in the middle would have easily completed this chase. Right now it's all on Kohli to deliver under pressure.

You expect an ATG to get their side home with the pressure on tbh.

Just saying.
