"What I didn't want to do is make a decision on emotion or where we are as a team," he said. "It's just about trying to be the strongest leader that I can be for the team. For now, that's committing to this series. The worst thing a leader can do is pull the plug mid-series and say, 'Sorry boys, I am out. I've had enough.' I don't think that's what's leadership is about. You have to stick through the tough times as well. After the T20 World Cup, I will reassess where I am.
Good man. Hope he takes his shirt off in the balcony one last time at the Wanderers.

Duplessis may retire by the end of this year according to ICC Twitter feed. I just hope SA don't become the next ZIM.

Seen a few gutless displays from England over the years but I have to say that this one from SA ranks up with the best of them. We aren't a good side but comprehensively beat them.

Wouldn't rule out a 2-2 draw even without Rabada though as we are just as likely to play crap as they are.
Nah South Africa has a way to go to equal Englands crapness. Its easy to rag on an inexperienced team, if these results contiinue a bit longer then yes maybe we are getting to England level.

Why is it that whenever South Africa has a string of poor results comments about them descending to the level of Zimbabwe or Bangladesh come out? While the test side is not in a good state at the moment, there's no reason yet to think that they can't bounce back. It's possible that it could take a while given the way the sport's been mismanaged of late, but doom and gloom predictions are definitely premature.

cba to check, but wasn't the match they won in the 2017 series when Rabada was suspended?

Tbf, as plainly terrible as England have been quite often in the last few years, they've been at least performed dominantly at home all the while. SA's momentary lack of quality has made them vulnerable at home as well

England are tough to beat over a series but are far from dominant at home. They drop plenty of Tests at home.

Yeah, we routinely drop a test (at least) a series, so have a tendency to draw the 2-test series we play (NZ 2015, Pakistan 2018). I know that's only 2 drawn series in 5 summers, but we'd want to be winning those in order to be considered a dominant home team

You drew the recent Ashes and against Pakistan in 2016 as well. :p
Lol, was so focused on the 2-test series (i.e where dropping just 1 test costs us a series win) I forgot other ones existed
