ITT I learned:

1) Warne inspired a generation of kids to take up legspin, of which none amounted to anything
2) Murali inspired a generation of kids to throw (even if he didn't do it himself), many of whom got away with it for ages
3) Australians are arrogant

Well, I didn't really want to get involved in this again and drag out a topic that no one cares about and we'll probably never agree on, but since you've said something nice about me, I'll reply.

Mate, plenty of kids have been inspired by Murali's bowling. This is a simple we and our kids liked him more because he was from my country argument (and that's perfectly fair), but then you guys have to bring in Murali's action in it.

This post is pretty much spot on and you calling something that's a purely subjective feeling as a "brutal truth" is quite condescending TBH.

FWIW, I preferred watching Warne bowl to Murali as well but I am not going to put it down to anything other than personal preference.

As I suspected, you've misunderstood what I said. I did reiterate mutliple times that I was talking about the inspiration of spin bowling in non-Asian countries specifically.

Call it subjective if you like, but there's no way in hell that there was any signficant number of Aussie kids in the 90s trying to bowl like Murali, and everyone was trying to be Warne. I lived through it. Maybe that was just Australia, I don't know. Kids aren't going to want to copy the action of a guy who got no-balled out of the game for his action, whether it was fair or not. That's the "brutal truth" of Burgey's post I was referring to.
