South Africa team selection

Money talks. The board will be forced to resign. And in all likelihood other sponsors are making the same demands behind closed doors.
Standard Bank was a massive blow. This would add insult to injury.

Let us hope it forces more hands and quicker this ultimatum.

Going against the grain... I am a little nervous of this all starting to look like an exclusive old boys club.

Big task. Until we identify players ready to take us to the next level I think Mark will be key to getting our players mentally prepared for international cricket and possibly over achieve until we form his team and the team to hopefully get us competing at the top table again.

Hopefully the do the wise thing.

The eight remaining members of the board were summoned to a meeting by Nathi Mthethwa, the minister of sport, in Pretoria on Thursday.

Matters could come to a head at an urgent meeting of CSA's board and their members council - the organisation's highest authority - in Paarl on Monday.

Any different from the england & aus old boys clubs currently involved?

It would good if they do go outside their circle for more positions but I understand the thinking here. They want people they can absolutely trust 100%.

There is as much complaints about the old boys club in Eng and Aus...

I can understand the thinking and I have no problem with any of the people being selected to put us back on the right track. But ignoring the underlying long term issues helps nobody either.

The Sports Minister wants Cricket SA to engage with Sascoc about governance matters. Why? Sascoc is battling to get its own house in order after facing a Commission of Inquiry last year about its administration. WTF.

I like that Prince is SA A coach. What that team feeds into the SA team needs to be ready and prepared mentally for international cricket as much as possible. So Prince can start the process.

So Lungi Ngidi and Wiaan Mulder injured. D.Pretorius too I guess. Any dates of return ?

I think they will go van der Dussen. Verreynne as wk will be discussed but more likely SA A team.

So what we thinking ?

1. Elgar
2. Markram
3. Hamza
4. van der Dussen
5. du Plessis
6. Bavuma
7. de Kock (wk)
8. Philander
9. Maharaj
10. Rabada
11. Nortje

SA A

1. J.Malan
2. Moore
3. de Bruyn
4. Ackerman
5. Bavuma
6. Verreynne (wk)
7. Mulder (if ready otherwise D.Pretorius is probably who they will go too if he is fit too)
8. Linde
9. Sipamla
10. Nortje or Burger
11. B.Hendricks

Move on from P.Malan , Muthusamy, Piedt & Paterson

Too monitor in 4-day series : Breetzke, Richards, van Tonder, Roelofsen, Bedingham, Qeshile, Smith, Galiem , Jansen, E.Bosch, C.Bosch, Dupavillon

Mulder has a back strain, not sure how serious. Ngidi said he will be fit for the msl final, if he is fit for it maybe a chance for the test series?

Pretorius has a broken hand so don't think he is likely.

All positive, particularly considering where SA were a few weeks ago.

I hope Mulder is fit and gets a shot.

I found my enthusiasm for cricket again :D Supposedly if AB is performing and proving he can contribute he will be picked for the SA T20 side for the world cup.

Smith, Faf, Nkwe and Zondi are the selectors for the squads to be announced on Monday.

Boucher : 'Beware a wounded buffalo, especially in Africa'

SeamUp, I hope van der Dussen makes the XI, surely he is worth a shot over De Bruyn and Bavuma.

Im concerned that SA will want a 5th bowler like a Pretorious, Mulder or Phehlukwayo and it will see Bavuma retained and vdD miss out.
