What a catch that was from Wagner.

This partnership crucial, needless to say. Think NZ would be happy with that session given they haven't bowled all that well IMO and it looks a fairly flat deck.

Yeah that was an absolute cracker of a cought and bowled. Hopefully the recent bugs in Smith.exe have been ironed out and he reboots to Ashes mode

Looks like CdG and Wagner have shown the way, discipline more likely to work for NZ on this deck. Southee was pretty good against Burns early on without being consistent, and Lockie spell's was Harmison at the Gabba-esque.

May as well have picked blundell and batted him at 7 or 8 as a specialist batsman.
Makes more sense than picking santner here (or anywhere).

It's not a hot take when almost every NZ fan feels santner is a waste of space in the test team. He brings 0 value to the team. Even worse decision to pick him in Australia.

He has been picked because he is a friend of the coach/selectors and its beyond a joke.
It's a corrupt selection in my opinion.

I'm not a huge Santner fan but he did pretty well on debut in Australia with the pink ball.

31 and 45 with the bat at 6, and 1 for 54 (should've been Lyon too!!!) and 1 for 8 with the ball.

Gonna be a long session now for NZ with these two in. Gotta hope Smith has one of his brain fades pretty soon, else you guys are staring down 400+ for the first inning.
