Its test cricket. van der Merwe is a limited overs bowler. He averages less than 2 wickets in FC cricket.

This team would definitely defeat the current SA team in England and might get away in SA too.
Question for the India fans: are you content with how this shitshow of a series went down? A flawless performance by the team you support is always great, but India at home is getting ridiculously predicable. This worse than most (i.e. pretty much every series ever). Basically minnow bashing, not actual cricket.

That leaves only Eng and Aus. India anyways have 4-5 test series against them every other year.

It's not particularly entertaining, no. One of the best series of the last 10 years was when a team really pushed India to the brink at home, the rest have been mostly pretty forgettable.
Even England was 0-4. And Aus didn't face Shami/Bumrah.

I don't think I follow. SL gave a far better account of themselves than SA and played out a surprisingly entertaining series in India a couple of years back. And England werent much better than sa back in 2016.

There aren't that many good matchups in Test cricket and there's always been lopsided contests. Pakistan are going to Australia, where they haven't won or drawn a game in 20 years or so.
You can appreciate your team being clinical and ruthless even when the opposition is totally outmatched. I'm expecting SA vs. England to be a lot closer, both teams with fragile batting lineups - anything could happen. A bit too soon to start writing obituaries to SA cricket.
If India get to bat first and put 400+ on the board, they're very very hard to beat regardless of the conditions.

This is how I felt when SA used to thrash us (WI) every time we went to play them.
Big teams don't exist when it comes to touring India. Others might lose less pathetically than this series, but they are still going to lose. You need a combination of spicy wickets, short series, and favourable tosses to give visitors a chance. Which basically means India doctoring everything about a series, simply to randomise the result somewhat (and against their.nominal interests).

India at home has been pretty boring. The majority of other series over the last few years have been great and full of surprising results. SL won in SA, India won in Aus and NZ won in uae, and that's just a few in the last year off the top of my head.
India at home are too crushingly dominant atm to be a fun. No need to lump in all the other competitive series and pretend test cricket is dying or something.
