In an ideal world, 6 weeks or maybe a little more, 2-3 group games each and a semi-final and final. It's a lot of cricket and is about as practical as the full-round robin Test Championship every 4 years but as I said this is in an ideal world.

Teams -- 8
Group stage -- Group A and B. Every team plays 3 group games
Semi final -- Group A 1st v Group B 2nd, Group A 2nd v Group B 1st
Final -- Winners of the Semis

Qualification -- Winners of the last Test World Cup and top 7 (except the Winners of the last Test World Cup) of ODI World Cup

Until inception of a Test World Cup, ODI World Cup winners should play a memorial Test against a world-selected team like Rugby Union's Baa-Baas (Barbarian FC).
