I thought you were an ardent Rahane fan. Aren't you? Or am I mistaking with someone else?
Not sure about vcs, but Rahane has lost a lot of fans over the last 2 years, inspite of him being a likeable bloke. The guy just forgot how to bat, his recent tour of WI notwithstanding.

Indian fans have also become very spoilt as well in the last few years, Rahane would have been considered perfectly acceptable, even excellent, if we were in the '90s, but we aren't.

One thing I like about Rahane though is his record abroad when it is needed the most. The team hasn't really needed him to be better than what his below par home record suggests. A couple of times when India needed him at home in 2016-17, he turned it on.

If you have to show highlights of Kohli's captaincy reign, at least show some bloody cricket rather than him talking in press conferences.

This is a good batting pitch, but the SA attack seems to have a plan to sit and wait. Very little aggression shown.

... Nortje now bowling some fast bouncers.

Great end to the session for SA. Hopefully we can have one of those after tea batting collapses, with a reversing ball.

Maharaj just not providing that control that Faf needs. Which is really concerning.
Agree that Maharaj is struggling. But think Faf is struggling more. No decisive plan, no attempt to get batsmen out, purely defensive from really early. Right now I feel like SA is treating their bowlers as second class rather than expecting and asking them to take wickets. You could see how unhappy Rabada was earlier when he did not have a second slip after having just taken a wicket. It is a good batting track, but I don't see SA ever taking 20 wickets with the current defensive attitude.

I wonder if Rabada will get another slip now?

And it is good to see Rabada seeming get back into stride again.
