I didn't watch all 55 overs of his first innings but Maharaj was decent wasn't he? Second innings was a different story with the Indians under no pressure at all. Would've been a different story were he bowling to his own lineup I reckon.
He gave away to many 4 balls on the first day. Bowled much better on the 2nd. Think Maharaj fell into the trap that many visiting spinners do in having high expectations on there shoulders and trying to much rather than just bowling a good line and length.

That is concerning statement from Faf. His approach towards the fast bowlers as only be holding bowlers is a worry regards Rabada. I mean you don't hold your thoroughbred back if you want to take wickets. A couple of 4 overs of Rabada trying to bounce and be mean and fast, whether it worked or not, would have been good to see.

SA are seriously underestimating their bowling attack. How can someone like Rabada think of himself as playing a holding role? Wanted to see the pace trio in the next game, but don't have high hopes now.

I like Faf but there is something wrong.

No, Pune and Ranchi. More pitches of a similar nature to this one, I'd think.

Loved India's second innings - we have had to hear a lot of bullshit about #intent in the Shastri era but this was one time they actually put it into practice and won a match which would have been a draw otherwise.

Yep, close to a perfect performance from India as it gets, can’t think of anything they fell short in.

Brilliant from India. Rohit is a boss when he is in, I honestly don't think I've seen many batsman make six hitting look so easy. Big props to Jadeja who is such an MVP just about anywhere these days, and Shami who was brilliant.

SA competed, but some bad sessions lost them this game. Hope to see better selection and game plans with regards to the bowling attack. This includes Maharaj and the usage of Rabada.

Only 22 wickets so far this test. South Africa just need one big partnership to get out of this with a draw.

I hope this cements Rohit's place for the next test series in Australia
I actually like his chances of making Test runs in Australia, out of all venues. England/SA/NZ would be where he'd be expected to struggle.

Rohit's average at home: 97, away: 26

There is no way anyone can be as big a home track bully as that imo. At some point his stats are going to correct themselves and I wouldnt be surprised if he ended up doing ok overseas at some point. I actually thought he'd do it on the recently concluded tours but he was as bad as ever. What a weird player.

Does Rohit really have a weakness apart from inswing? He really should be doing better than that 26.

He plays outswing worse than inswing tbh. And he has a piss poor temperament at times. The shots he played to get out at Adelaide were shocking.

Had Rohit played equal no. of matches at home and abroad, he would have averaged a cool 60 now ! Regardless of the massive divergence between home and away record.

I'm getting the same excitement when watching our fast bowlers as I used to get watching Amir/Asif in 09/10.

I'd like to see 3 pace bowlers as well.
2008 Steyn, Morkel, Ntini, Kallis Harris Draw
2010 Steyn, Morkel, Parnell, Kallis, Harris Draw

I can't remember the last time I google the weather for the city of a test match and didn't see a forecast of rain on most of the days

Not that we've had heaps of draws or anything but it's pretty still pretty annoying

Totally agreed. Not just tests. ODIs and T20s as well.
