*Official* South Africa in India, Sep/Oct 2019

Is this the same pitch where Indian batsmen were going at a 100+ SR yesterday? Will South Africa resume their wailing about being made to play on pitches where their bowlers aren't provided with massive assistance for a change? Even though on they got similarly bundled out on a perfectly flat batting paradise of a pitch in their last tour.

Or will they finally realize that the problem lies in the fact that they can't bat for shitz outside of home conditions.

Du Plessis seems to get out an awful lot while leaving the ball.

It is a common trend of his. If you bowl the ball outside off and get it to jag in, often leaves and gets out lbw/bowled. But is probably also the reason why he also does those long saving 4th innings knocks. He probably gets away with it more on the bouncier pitches here in SA.

Worried that these runs by Piedt and Muthusamy going to keep them in the team for next selection.

Haha, this is what the indian team is trying as well one feels. Our traditional weakness in dismissing the tail-enders not withstanding.

When the ball gets soft it is much easier to bat.... but the concern this match has been our bowling (not withstanding our upper-middle order problems), and we cannot afford both Piedt and Muthusamy in the team next match. If we going in with 5 bowlers we need another bowler that can take wickets. I would prefer both dropped and we pick another batsman as well.

I think that is true, and yet the Indian openers have scored 518 runs between them this match, which just goes to your point about SA bowling.

Why is Rohit Sharma bowling?? If you wanted to give the spinners a break, the seamers have only bowled 8 and 7 overs each...

Rabada has looked totally off and below pace (still alright but not the beast Rabada I would like to see change a game). Philander has pretty much done what was required, but he is never going to be penetrative. But the best you can say about our spinners is that they have been inconsistent. Bowled individually one or two good spells, but not collectively no pressure ever on the Indian batsmen. The whole first days bowling was just atrocious in every way.

Maharaj was so disappointing, especially when you consider how well he did last year against Sri Lanka in the sub continent and the successful county stint he’s just come off with Yorkshire.Still though, he’s good enough to learn from this and come back stronger 2nd test.

I didn't watch all 55 overs of his first innings but Maharaj was decent wasn't he? Second innings was a different story with the Indians under no pressure at all. Would've been a different story were he bowling to his own lineup I reckon.

Superb from Shami. SA did ok this test for the most part especially with the bat, but that first innings lead was a little too big in the end.

Congrats India

Yes our batsmen collapsed in the morning, but its the bowlers who must take the stick for this. It would have forced Kohli to declare much later

Fist days bowling performance and yesterday after tea was just pathetic. de Bruyn and Bavuma continue to be a real worry.
