I wonder if there's ever been a worse ODI innings. Probably not.

Michael VanDort did something similar around 2006-ish making 40-odd off over 100 balls chasing 300+, but that's obviously not as bad

Gavaskar’s was just a bundle of cash away from fixing.

Purposely trying to lose the game to prove a point (instead of make money).

I think Gavaskar did it deliberately because he was upset with Venkataraghavan as captain. He was able to score a hundred in 87 balls indicating he could do it if he wanted to.
