Bl00s really need to put the foot down from this point on. They couldn't win the game in the first eight, but could have lost it with a collapse like last week's. Now they just need to launch and hope it's good enough.

Mitch Marsh really h00ping it since having some time injury-free to build up his bowling strength and action again. It's definitely not just an England thing if he's swinging the white ball after 9 at Drummoyne.

It's this sort of bowling that actually kept him in the WA Shield team as a 20 year old after failing as a top order bat.

It'd be much better for all concerned if he started making serious runs instead but I'm putting it out there anyway.

Yeah I agree with all this. His pace bowling is almost surplus to requirements in this team(with Beherendorf fit) let alone for Australia

Always had a fair bit of time for his bowling, plenty of h00p at decentish pace. Fell away for a while but is back close to where he was

His record is not terrible especially in FC which I concede isn't super relevant

But having 3 bowlers to share 7 overs is useful
His bowling record looking okayish is mainly down to his half a season for Middlesex where he couldn't buy a run yet was taking bulk wickets. His bowling record here in Australia would still be pretty poor I think

EDIT:

All FC cricket bowling average: 35.88
Sheffield Shield bowling average: 46.90

His FC record is built up by doing well with the ball in county cricket too which is really even less relevant to a 50 over game in Drummoyne, especially for a medium pacer

EDIT: Ah beaten

Bl00s got themselves into a reasonable spot here, especially if these two can bat for another 10 overs.

I'm not going to judge too much on his averages when I've seen how ordinary his bowling is. I'll grant that in a cloudy green division 2 county game things might look a bit different for him but I wouldn't consider him any better than Ricky Ponting or Damien Martyn were as bowlers.

Here's a question:

Rank Ponting, Martyn and Blewett as pacemen
Blewett definitely the best of them. I find it hard to rank the other two. Ponting always looked better to me but Martyn's best days as a quick based on the numbers were definitely his first few years in domestic cricket rather than his part-time international days.

When Henriques makes a score, he looks as good as any batsman in the country. He just doesn't make them anywhere near as often as I would like him to.

Hughes was in the early pre-season chat for a test call up before last summer, but didn't do enough/ wasn't from WA in the lead up so didn't get in. Might be a shout again this summer if he makes runs in the Shield up front.

Yeah this for certain

Though Ponting getting Vaughan out in the 05 Ashes was maybe the most trollish wicket of all time until Clarke's last over in Sydney.
