As it’s a Bank Holiday in England tomorrow (now today as it’s 1:15am) I decided to stay up and listen to a load of stuff on the BBC website. Michael Vaughan said that given that England had a review left and Australia didn’t Wilson should have given it out so they go upstairs and have a look. Hmmm. Anyway, sleep time. It’s been a good day.

I wouldn't be criticising Wilson too much for that one. Granted I was watching on an illegal potato, but I didn't think it was out live. It pitched very full and it wasn't clear whether the change in direction was spin or the ball flicking the front pad. Stokes's position also made it look like it pitched a bit more leg side than it did.

It's pitching middle and leg and hitting leg at worst. It's horrendously out. This sort of "logic" is so deeply flawed. Those are precisely the sort of variables umpires are meant to discern. It's why they are there in the first place.

You may as well say "Look, don't be too critical of Paine on that review, it was really full and the way Leach goes across makes it really unclear whether it was out or not, and he's at an angle etc etc." It's bullshit. It was a **** review, and that was a **** decision.

This is the bloke who reckoned Smith was leaving the ball in an idiosyncratic manner just to put the bowler off. So, you know.

It was a regulation not out in the old days. (Shakeel Khan, Rex Whitehead and Shakoor Rana not withstanding) It’s leg side-ish, the ball had a long way to travel and it hit the pad too soon after pitching for the umpire to judge any deviation.

Well of course they do, but there is no way it pitched outside, or did anything but hit him in line. And it was hitting leg stump at worst. I don't understand why you simply don't acknowledge it was a **** house decision. If he's guessing he shouldn't be there.

Edit: in other news, when does Anderson's County hit out start? Is it over the weekend or in the next day or two?

It was not out because the umpire didn't give it simple as that. That is the nature of our game, umpires always have and always will make mistakes, this generation are just lucky they have the opportunity to overturn the bad ones.
Australia have to be better at this, they literally burned a review the over before. The ashes was theirs if Cummins had told his captain he thought it might have pitched 8 inches outside leg stump
