this, or something similar, already exists based on what I've been told. Then they pair up the 'good' umpires with newer ones to help train them up, and the poorer/newer ones tend to do lower profile series.

the neutral umpire requirements kind of screws over a series like the Ashes because the best umpires tend to come from Eng and Aus. Better structures in place to train and develop umps.
why is this *****? How come India, for example, produce so many great players but not many great umpires? Doesn't it pay enough at the lower levels in India? Given that the worst umpires in the world are undoubtedly from Hong Kong, which country has the 2nd worst?

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the decision to give Stokes not out was right as the ball appeared to be going down leg in the initial replay (not the hawk-eye one) as it seemed to hit the front pad first before the back pad?

Nah not yet mate. Busy this morning so haven't had a chance to look for them yet. If I find them I'll post a link

Was an interesting case, actually. Bloke said he shouldn't go down for anything more than affray rather than assault occasioning actual in company, as it was just another night out in Bristol and he wouldn't even have been there if he wasn't a celebrity. Of course, following the 91JMay line of precedent, he simply had to walk.

Nah it still should have been given out. Was smashing into leg stump at least.

Nah, it's just you
Stokes thinks so too apparently as he feels it hit his front pad while the hawkeye ignored that aspect.

The initial replay without the hawkeye would tell a different story. Maybe it would appear somewhere in the extended highlights.

I’ve read that Labushagne was hit twice inside four overs. The second one from an Archer bumper that came in and kept chasing him. Anyone know who hit him just before that?

Broad. It hit the peak of his helmet and deflected for 4 leg byes. Broad told the scorers to take off 4 runs in the stump mike. It was a little funny.

Joel Wilson should be executed with a 20 men firing squad

Played Stokes though. Serious player

Reviews should be weighted by the umpire. Wilson is so bad. (and worse - inconsistently bad). He would be a 5 reviews umpire. His very being there and making so many wrong decisions makes you use up all your reviews because you just cant trust him.

That Stokes innings was something people will regret not seeing. The way he upped the tempo, and shielded the tail. The way he went into ODI mode and took control and innovated to put Australia under so much pressure was one for the ages.

I was at the game so didn't see every ball back. On the Saturday did labushagne get hit on the head by broad. Should this have been a dead ball instead of 4 leg byes which was awarded as he wasn't taking evasive action?

Was he playing a shot? If he was then it's leg byes on that basis, if he wasn't then can see your point but they sort of deem you to be taking evasive action if you get sconed.

Getting bowled out for 85 at Hobart made me less pissed off than losing like this.

Yes he was, tried to hook. Was initially thought to be runs.
