I'm not sure why stumping decisions like that need to be sent upstairs. Surely when the foot moves that little it's easy enough to see.

I mean if the logic was “they’re ****, let’s shoot them out and finish this before tea tomorrow as a contest” then sure. I think if anything though the extravagant turn makes it even more contestable a decision, objectively.
No. No one has ever won a test after calling the toss wrong. In fact the only reason they even play the game is to determine whether the correct call was made at the toss.

At least he did well for you last season, I can think of at least three others in the Top 7 that look more vulnerable. Really only two of your top seven look completely safe, though Burns has done decently so far this series.
Even Stokes has been quietly poor recently. Averages less than 30 since he came back, has showed plenty of application in that time but it has not actually led to him scoring many runs. Obviously his place in the side is not in doubt at all but talk of moving him to 4 should really stop.

Think it might be one of those scenarios where the wet weather actually makes the pitch drier because the hover cover is on all the time.
Bring back sweaty pitches I say. No country seems to want a drop of H2O to get on their wicket.

That said I am a fan of uncovered pitches. If that was the case with the sun shining this morning the England innings would be done already for about 50 and we'd be 7/45

Subsequent success does not make prior illogic less wrong.

I wonder when the murmurings are going to start about this decent reverse swing we've been getting (or at least it appears to be).

Thommo looks like an old piece of fruit that's been left out in the sun and is all shrivelled and off-colour.

All on these two and the lower order English troll gang. Feels like the series could be over unless they scrape close to 300 in the first innings.

Looks like entirely conventional swing to me, reverse tends to be sharp late inswing.

Last year a major concern for cricket fans was few batsmen knowing how to bat away from home. This year England have one upped by forgetting how to bat at home.

Strange year to pick out to say that. NZ won in UAE, India won in Aus, Eng won in SL, SL ****ing won in ****ing SA (Im still not sure how this actually happened but I'm assured it did)

This is not a new thing. Buttler was the only one to average over 40 last year in England, and only 6 batsmen averaged over 30 - 3 of them were Dom Bess, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran. Our batsmen haven't known how to bat at home for a while.

I'm going by the age and direction of the shiny side and seam. Stokes at least manages to make his reverse and conventional swing have much the same character.
