Thanks guys. Most seats are gone except the Mound and the lower decks on Eldrich/Compton.

Had no idea the VT20s were that popular

T20s have been popular for ages in England - it's just the ECB pretended they weren't in order to try and sell the stupid 100 competition as a re-vamp to try and make more money.

Exactly. When i've been in England i've always managed to get to a few T20s when I could (since my first way back in 2004).
Crowds have always been good.

The ECB aren't half a crazy lot. Talk about the lunatics running the asylum.
Does anyone remember that ridiculous Pro40 competition they came up with?

Didn't get great seats, highest row on the lower eldrich stand.

Ah well. Still super excited. Never seen a proper game at a stadium before, though I did catch an India-Bangladesh CT warm up game once when transiting through London.

Have a good one bud. On paper Middlesex have an amazing T20 top 5 (I'm assuming Morgan and De Villiers will be back playing).

I never had that much an issue with the Pro40 - but that was because historically, the OD game in England was never a 50 over competition, it varied. The main cup competition in 1964 started as a 60 over a side competition, and stayed that until 1998 when it became a 50 over competition for a few years before the 40 over competition. Ditto the B&H cup which was a 55 over competition until 1998 too. Then the sunday league was a 40 over competition from 1969 until 1992, when it was 50 overs for just the 1993 season, before reverting to 40 overs. Then in 1999 it changed to a two division league, and was 45 overs, and continued to 2005. The concept behind it being 40 and shorter than the cups was to fit it in for TV, as it used to be on BBC2 until the 80s, and then channel 4 (IIRC)

Had a blast. ABdV falling for 10 was annoying but that Kuhn and Blake partnership was so good. The Kent fans were going wild when Blake hit the 4 sixes in an over

Watching live gives you a perspective of how good the fielding standards are. They make it look so easy. The bowling apart from Milne and Viljoen looked pretty gentle though tbf. Would fancy myself surviving an over or two against some of them although scoring any runs would be a different matter entirely lol.

Banton with a reverse pull/sweep for six off Sam Curran tonight. Having a good breakout season.

Good to see S Curran batting 3 for Surrey too. Lots of good young english cricketers doing well in the t20 stuff. Bodes well for the world t20s next year.

Blake has always had a lot of ability, played against him at Uni and he hit the ball so hard it was scary. I think it was him who once hit 18* off 3 balls to finish off a 4 day game.

Matt Parkinson looks the real deal in t20s. Would like to see him given a go in England colours soon, preferably before the next t20 WC.

Definitely far more elegant on attack than say Southee is, isn't he. Possibly similar in temperament and defence judging by the one at 0:04, who knows.

A bit of a letdown of a new ball spell from Archer today, lots of duds far too wide of off stump, or otherwise getting onto the pads. Bowled 15 overs 1/59 in the first two sessions, they may've lost internet at this ground late in the day.

Glos promoted Greg Willows up to open, he got pretty close to England U19 caps before an injury in 2018. His father coaches SACS in Cape Town so SeamUp is probably familiar with him, probably a player that a smaller club like Glos has a bit of hope for.

Prone to quite a bit of loose wafting outside off he'll have to tighten up, but finished up helping himself to 23 runs off 40 balls in Archer's first eight overs (one six off the hip, two fours clipped off the pads, one dicey waft for four outside off, a nice three through the covers).
