We had a poster on here from Czechia iirc who was a keen player over there. Wonder what happened to him? Doesn't post any more, which is a shame.

I vaguely remember that member. I can't remember their name, but weren't they a regular member with several thousand posts or something?

Pavel Florin is indeed a hero, and we need more men like him in this world.

However I did expect the standard of cricket in Europe to be a bit higher. Even the expats and the German/Italian/etc national players aren't that great. Lots of work to be done, but pretty cool that they're being showcased all the same. Hopefully this can lead to more funding and development opportunities for them.

I think the poster you're all referring to is Jan. Good poster. I think he's still active on Stumped. Let me drop him a message today and see what he thinks of the ECL.

Yeah it's Jan. Good bloke. I think from his SM media accounts that he still plays cricket in Czechia.

The quality has been so good that cable TV in Australia is just straight up taking the feed and putting it on their cricket channel now.

EDIT: Broadcast quality that is. :p

Man it's going to be a struggle to avoid finishing dead last in this. It's either us or the weaker team from the Americas.

All I care about is beating HK though.

I hope Kenya actually show up. With the shenanigans going on at board level one can never be sure.

So the new WC qualification route is underway in the form of the World Cup League 2

There's basically 3 tiers

Super League (ODI)
League 2 (ODI)
Challenge (List A)

Countries will play within their leagues to determine who makes it to the Play-Offs and then the WC Qualifiers, eventually leading to the WC.

Of course most of this is fruitless because only 10 nations make it to the WC, but hey, at least there's a clear pathway which is not as easily manipulated as the previous one.

The biggest thing to come from this is the 36 ODIs each that teams in League 2 will be playing at a minimum.

The seven Associate countries ranked 14-20 will each contest a total of nine tri-series over the next two and a half years. The redesigned CWC League Two guarantees each team hosts everyone for two ODIs and tours every other country for two ODIs for a total of 24 matches. The other 12 ODIs in the structure are played as neutral-site matches.

HK were in a running for those 36 ODIs before we somehow imploded in Namibia. ****ing sucks. Aiming top top Challenge League B now.
