So, teams for the Qualifier in October/November:

Scotland
Zimbabwe (?)
Netherlands
Hong Kong
Oman
Ireland
UAE
Papua New Guinea
Kenya
Namibia
Jersey
Singapore
One of Bermuda/Canada/Cayman Islands/USA

Haven't found any indication of how they'll determine who takes Zimbabwe's spot.

**** didn’t realise you guys were discussing this here. What a win!! David came good at just the right time but Rohan and Kumar were great too. Rohan’s a 100% SG bred player btw.

Roughly what percentage of the Singapore team are Singapore born and raised?

Anyway, I wonder how much Singapore will see of Tim David, seems a cut above most at this level. He probably only ended up playing in the first place because he missed most of the Australian summer with a broken foot. Was cut from the WA contract list as a result, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Scorchers are still interested in him come Big Bash time

Yeah, makes sense after that knock today. Even so, hopefully he'll still be able to play the Qualifier, which is October 11-November 3.

4/11 have grown up here from a very very young age, not sure about where they were born

Some of the rest like Chetan, Mahb00bs and Kumar have been here for aaaaages.

Much better than like a decade ago where it was mostly 1st gen immigrants who hadn’t really integrated into SG culture

Wait, they are definitely planning to replace Zimbabwe?

Edit - nvm, I thought you were implying this was a tournament for test status :(

I took a catch like that at school once, wish someone had been around to take a video of it.

Day one of the ECL is (almost) over and VOC Rotterdam look a class above everyone else. Hoping for a VOC v Svanholm final.

The production quality of the ECL is really good. Nice ground they've got out there in Spain as well.
Dan Western and his team have done a great job so far. Hope he hasn't sunk too much of his own cash in and it's sustainable. Desperately needs a Swedish team for the next edition

The La Manga facility has been around for years. The ECB use it quite often and the Irish inter pro first round was played there at the start of summer.

I can do better than that bloke. Any European countries willing to give me citizenship?

The standard of the cricket in the ECL is... questionable, to say the least

This wasn't the standard, it was an Eric the Eel kinda moment. There's a feel good backstory to Pavel Florin too.

I think what people forget is there isn't much of a cricketing culture in most European countries like there is in Asian nations which makes it difficult when it comes to dealing with government bodies for facilities and coaching. There is no luxury of colonial grounds on the continent like you guys have in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia etc, we have to fight with the local kommuns just to get access to the rubbish grounds we have and if there's a football or rugby tournament, we're the first to get kicked off. The exceptions i guess are The Netherlands and Denmark and it's showed so far.

Hopefully some local Italian or Romanian kids see this and it encourages them to get involved with their local clubs...if they can find one.

Pavel is having a crack, and coming from a country with no cricketing culture at all, he's doing just fine. Would encourage all CWers to give him a follow on the Toots and back him in. Good luck to him and to Cluj.
