Zimbabwe has been suspended by ICC. Sudden and shocking news. Had followed their cricket with interest and hence, a little sad on hearing this. Hope the players are taken care of. I am not sure if Zimbabwe will recover from this and play test cricket ever again.

Zimbabwe have returned from suspension before. But this time might be different, have to read up on what exactly has led to this situation

Looks like the old warhorse Hamilton Masakadza may have played his last test. He's their last active cricketer around from their first exile right? This tough old chestnut played alongside the Flowers

I think Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams were newly getting into the team too during the first exile.

Actually it turns out the self-imposed exile from Test cricket doesn't count as a suspension. This is literally the first time the ICC have suspected a full member. Woah.

Seems like it is the same old story as before though. Political interference in the ZBC, the ICC money being used to line the pockets of corrupt leaders. ICC actually taking a bold stance this time though.

Countries have been allowed to compete in ICC events whilst their board has been suspended (Nepal won ODI status with a suspended board), but might be different this time since Zimbabwe are a full member. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Dug this up while reading more on this:

THE Sports and Recreation Commission yesterday came down with a heavy hand on Zimbabwe Cricket after they announced the suspension of the Tavengwa Mukuhlani-led board on allegations of defying the order to suspend an elective Annual General Meeting held last week.
---
In a lengthy statement yesterday, the Sports Commission indicated that they acted within the confines of the law and their decision will not be interpreted as Government interference by the International Cricket Council.
well they got that wrong lol

It seems like Sikander Raza thinks the government meddling was necessary though:

"I genuinely thought that it would have been ideal if one member of the ICC had come and overseen the election process, for the reasons SRC dismissed the board, while we continued to play cricket. I thought that would have been a very good quick fix."
interesting

Those chaps got thrown in because of the exile as teenagers.

Also, Kenya's leading cricket clubs have broken ranks with their County Board and are running their own T20 competition

Nah, that'd be too much of a distraction from work, so just checking the score.

Singapore on track for a big win vs Malaysia

This will take Singapore to 5 points in 3 games with a game in hand vs Nepal

Nepal have 2 points and are yet to play Kuwait and Singapore

Kuwait themselves are on 3 points after 3 games. A win for them over Nepal puts them in contention, but if they lose it's all over. Meanwhile, Nepal have to win both of their upcoming games to make it through, while Sinapore will either need to beat Nepal, or need Kuwait to beat Nepal, or hope they've got significant enough of a NRR advantage that even if both results go against them, they still make it through.

They need to wrap up this game vs Malaysia first. They've got them 67/6 atm.

Lamichhane and Regmi going for combined figures of 7-0-88-0 is remarkable

Tim David, who has played for the Perth Scorchers, hit 77 for Singapore. Couldn't ask for more from your ringer.
