So how have people's all time WC XIs changed now? Certainly some new contenders. Buttler had a better tournament than Gilchrist in 99. Shakib is self explanatory. Starc bombed it so badly in a semi, Dhoni too. Does that mean they're no longer in it?

Dhoni was never in it IMO. Buttler v Carey is more interesting now than it was before. Starc definitely makes it.

EDIT: Read this post entirely wrong because I thought it was in a different thread. Ignore me.

Just gone into statsguru with fresh eyes and no preconceived ideas. Paying no attention to finals performances, just looking at overall stats, mostly averages. Giving some credence to players who have played more games.

Sachin Tendulkar: 45 matches, 2278 runs at 57

Rohit Sharma: 17 matches, 1978 runs at 65

Kumar Sangakkara: 37 matches, 1532 runs at 56

Viv Richards: 23 matches, 1013 runs at 63

AB DeVilliers: 23 matches, 1207 runs at 63

Andrew Symonds: 18 matches, 515 runs at 103.

Lance Klusener: 14 matches, 372 runs at 124. 22 wickets at 22

Wasim Akram: 38 matches, 55 wickets (econ. 4.04)

Mitchell Starc: 18 matches, 49 wickets (econ. 4.64)

Muttiah Muralitharan: 40 matches, 68 wickets (econ. 3.88)

Glenn McGrath: 39 matches, 71 wickets at 18 (econ. 3.96)

Michael Clarke, Ben Stokes, Shakib, Dave Warner, Joe Root, Dilshan, Imran Khan, Shane Warne all in the mix.

I will have either Stokes or Shakib in there instead of AB. Rest are perfect.

On the one hand you've got a guy that hasn't won a world cup final. On the other hand you have Shakib.
Yes Stephen. But AB hasn't won it either and on top of it, shied away from playing one when he was critically required by the team. So both these guys are better choices in that criteria than him.

I feel like you want a better keeper than Sanga or AB too but I guess you'd have to choose between Dhoni and Gilchrist and both have holes in their WC records.

Too bad you can't add like 1000% extra weighting to WC finals then Gilchrist would be a lock

this can't be right can it? Rohit only made 300 less runs than Sachin in 28 less matches, but his average is only 8 runs higher?

In fact according to these numbers Rohit's made more than 100 runs a match so can't possibly be averaging 65

He's played much more than 17 games I'm guessing

Mistake by me, Sharma has 978, not 1978

Sanga kept in over 300 of his ODIs. He's more than capable to keep here.

Basically once Kaluwitharana retired, Sanga was SL's ODI keeper until retirement.
