Dropping Head would be properly harsh. Dropping him for a kid with so little first class experience would be the worst selection call possible.

The media hype is doing Pucovski no favours at all. This whole "next big thing" talk is really just a millstone around his neck as far as I am concerned

Have you seen him (WP) bat? He's got the best technique I've seen come thru Shield in years. I can see the sense in not selecting him until our home summer but it's a matter of when rather that if with him. Will be batting at #3 in our test team in 3 years.

I feel like Head's technique is too flawed for English conditions but if he plays and I'm wrong I wont be disappointed, obviously.

Yeah I have seen a bit of him, agree that he has the game to succeed at in Tests but the Ashes is the absolute worst place, bar none, to blood somebody at Test level. Post Ashes he will definitely be in the picture but I believe people need to temper their expectations of him in the short term

Probably reasonable tbh. Home tests against Pakistan would be a much better debut, next summer.

I have 9 players locked in which means there are 16 from the initial 25 man squad battling it out for 2 spots.

My locks:
Warner Harris Smith Head Paine Cummins Starc Lyon plus Khawaja if fit.

If Usman isnt fit, I think Patterson is very likely which probably shows he is a favourite for the last batting spot regardless, but not 100% certain.

The last bowling spot appears to be out of Hazlewood, Pattinson or perhaps the bjg hearted Siddle or Bird.

I have seen a few teams not want Starc or Harris or Head, I think theyve all done enough.

Only issue is there's a lot of lefties but that might suit us against the pom quicks who bowl a lot of outswing

Foakes is batting 3 (ahead of Bracey who bats 3 for glos) in this lions game which suggests the selectors are at least considering him as an option at 3 in test side. Don't think he's good enough tbh, but you could say that of everyone they are liekly to try.

Not got many runs has he this season.

Denly has scored a lot of runs over the last couple of weeks. Always assumed he was one of those gets picked at the end of a bad winter never to be seen again players but maybe they will actually stick with him.
