It's only against Eng that they seem to run into trouble. We should play them against any other side; the way the other game is going, we might not have to worry about Eng after all.

Kiwis are one team I wouldn't mind batting second again - feels like a lot of their recent wins against us have come in while we batted first. Also I don't like the prospect of Boult on a fresh wicket.

Think both teams will be happy with this. Two efficient if unimposing batting line-ups, heavily reliant on two batsmen who are surrounded by a bunch of question marks. Think England would've overpowered either of us, esp on the better batting surfaces we've been seeing lately, and Australia, well they're Australia.

Kuldeep and Chahal haven't really had the impact we expected, but it hasn't been a good World Cup for spinners in general, bar Tahir. Jadeja did great yesterday while Bhuvi had a poor day. I would probably play an attack of Shami-Bumrah-Kuldeep-Jadeja.

The other alternative would to hope that Jadeja's batting can compensate and play a 5-man attack by dropping Karthik. Shami-Bumrah-Bhuvi-Jadeja-Kuldeep-Hardik is a tasty attack with pretty much all bases covered.

Rahul's had a quietly efficient tournament but he still does not inspire much confidence. Even yesterday he slowed down to a crawl between 20-50. My fear - applicable only if he lasts as long again - is he's going to deprive Rohit or Kohli of strike and cause them to do something silly in a pressure situation.

The reason why the Dhawan Rohit partnership was so epic was because Rohit settled in and went big while Dhawan kept it ticking in the first 10. Rohit is still solid platinum but Rahul isn't the chalk to his cheese.

It annoys me that 4 years on and we've basically lost another semi final because our middle order could not handle a tricky runchase after a top order failure

Granted there's a big difference between 320 and 240, but still. We haven't learnt our lesson. 4 years and our batting is still Top 3 or Bust.
