Mate Southee needs clouds and swing. On a highway he’s just a guy that will go for a few runs less than Henry at the death.

Isn’t this what express bowlers are for? What the hell is with the selection these last 3 games, it’s like they change the team to suit the conditions in the previous game. It’s so weird.
Eh, it was an enforced change. Ferguson out unfit and they picked the pacer over Sodhi. Unless you mean the second spinner was needed here.

I don’t know why commentators act all confused when super aggressive modern batsmen eventually hit one to a fielder.

McCullum, Hesson and possibly a few other commentators have still been talking up Southee for the semi finals over the last few matches. They probably influenced Stead & Williamson - him playing today and getting pumped might send them the 'yeah don't do that' message they need. (If we make the semi finals).

Oh nooooooooooooooooooo!

Root time! The tuk tuk 250 is on.
You mean from YJB alone or are you chastising the bloke who's one of the highest run scorers of the tournament AND has a ridiculously low dot ball percentage?

To be fair to Southee, not easy to come into the side suddenly and encounter the least favourable bowling conditions in a while. But still hard to digest that the most experienced bowler in the side is getting tonked and seemingly powerless to stop it. Come on Timmeh prove us wrong.

They've wanted to prepare roads all tournament, because they think run fests are the most entertaining form of one day cricket. They just struggled to for a while because the sun didn't appear for three weeks.
Yes, am sure they would have thought the same had they the best bowling in the world and a weak batting line up.

I mean the guy that regularly comes in scores at less than a run a ball on batting tracks, steals the strike, frustrates the batsmen at the other end, then gets out trying to finally hit one after eating up half the game.

Neesham is the funniest cricketer in the side.

Did anyone else catch him donating KW's gloves by throwing them into the crowd after a match?

Of course. Just like Australia and New Zealand did in 2015 when they produced a World Cup that had even higher scoring rates than this one. It's how non-nerds view white ball cricket.

Henry bowling really nicely here, what an utter waste giving the new ball to Santner and Chris Harris.

Dhoni isn't playing today mate

Santner's been really poor today. Could've been so different if that first ball had taken the stumps, but since then he's bowled a boundary ball or two an over.

It's so strange that the scoring rates have been so low this tournament. I realise that all the teams are fielding their best attacks but I think these pitches have been better than they have been in England recently.

And by better, I mean better for entertainment, not better for mindless slogging.

Batting paradise with little margin for error or not, NZ have been mightily unimpressive in their inability to mix the pace up, change angles, go around the wicket, shorter spells for bowlers etc.

Southee going for 9s is so depressing knowing he should have never been anywhere near this WC squad. Been a total waste of space in ODI cricket since their last WC game against England 4 years ago.
