Cricket Ireland are currently broadcasting the 1st ODI against Zim on Youtube. Some quality Irish commentary on offer.

255 is very much chaseable against Zim. Come on Ireland, just play sensible cricket.
They would've been hoping for a much smaller chase at 129/5 and 168/6, but I guess Zimbabwe do essentially have a top order batsman at #8. The fact that he's come on to bowl 2 overs for 17 (with probably more pies to come) might counteract the bail-out job he did with the bat.

I was just wondering that about Burl actually. He's a upper order batsman, has quite an impressive First Class record, yet Zimbabwe seem intent to try and meme him in to a leg spinning all rounder batting at 7 or 8. Does he have something to his bowling I just haven't seen or does this confuse you too?

Yeah it confuses me as well, although admittedly I haven't actually seen him bowl more than an over or two in ages. The last time he played domestic cricket (in March - so not that long ago) he wasn't bowling at all, and this decision to use him as a bowling allrounder seems to be based on a fluky haul he took against the UAE, and/or net form. He was actually pretty successful in the role in the T20s against the Netherlands though.

My gut says it's a combination of them wanting to keep playing him even though he doesn't quite justify a spot yet just to give him an incentive to stay in the country because they rate him long term, and the fact that Williams being their best spinner and Raza probably being close to second makes the balance of their side a bit wonky anyway with arguably less need for a real bowler in that role Burl is playing.

Tinashe is a prank cricketer though so if it was mainly the former there they should've let him open in the last game.

Hi everyone. I recently started my own YouTube channel discussing all things cricket. Mainly the World Cup at the monent. I am just wondering if you would be interested in me covering these smaller nations results and if so, what you would like to see?
I will attach a link to my channel and any feedback would be great. Thanks
Yeah I'd be very interested. I'm actually subbed to your channel already. Just a friendly reminder as a mod who's a fan that you kind of push close to the line on spamming your channel though -- I'd suggest putting it your user signature so you didn't have to post new links all the time assuming it let you, and maybe contributing to the forum in other ways when you had time too so you didn't seem so conspicuous. Fleshing out your ideas on CW is a great way to refine them for your channel too, I promise. :)

It *was* Irfan Ahmed, but these days I would say it's close between Ehsan Nawaz and Aizaz Khan. HK really is short of that tearaway quick TBH!

More or less what I thought, not much pace in Hong Kong cricket. Genuine tearaway pacemen don't come along often at assosciate level.

Good stuff by Ireland, they really needed a series win such as this to boost the team's confidence. Good signs for their next generation, let's hope they can continue to climb.

On the other side of the coin hopefully the Zimmers can reverse this current slide. Can't help but think the sacking of Cremer & co. has really contributed to this recent dip in form. They've still played relatively well, though. Always tough for a team such as Zim, where opportunities to tour overseas are few & far between.
