This is mix of both. Better bowling by India and poor batting/decisions by England (like holding Buttler back)

India need 1 more quick wicket to put more pressure

This seems to have happened a few times this tournament, where a team gets off to a flyer and then suddenly for no particular reason loses all momentum.

Except England seem to have gone into a deliberately cautious mode here.

A wicket probably helps us as it gets Butler in who won't stand for this nonsense waiting around.

Everyone wrote Hardik off at the start off this innings but he's been excellent today

I genuinely think he has bowled really well all WC. Would make most other sides as a proper bowler this tournament. Just looks out of place in this team, but you could see him rocking up purely as a quick bowler for WI, Pak, SL, BD, Afghanistan and maybe even SA.

Yeah I’ll cop that. Was in the Dhoni mentality thinking about sneaking in some more spinner overs before England started round 2 of the crazy.
Maybe England has done India a pre finals favour? If Bhuvi and Jadeja are available they make India’s attack really strong imo. Admittedly I’m probably under rating Kuldeep and not rating Pandyas ar skills enough but they’d be the two to make way imo.

Comms pointed it out but wonder if Plunkett coming in for Moeen has made England are bit less confident to tee off during overs 30-40.

Absolutely no way he gets a game as a pure bowler for Pak/SA, come on now

They are doing fine. No need to risk a collapse.

England are the one side who are expected to really capitalize on a good start and they will. Stokes is just about getting going now and he's been their one quality striker this tourney.

butler needs to face 60 balls for a 100

root needs to get out
He isn't going to get any more than 35 balls. Even for that some one needs to get out there.

Out of all the moves India did well today, the best one was not to get Root out.

I was going to make that point but Moeen hasn't contributed anything in ages.... so it probably shouldn't be as much of a factor

Pandya is practically undroppable right now for his lower order batting.

That'd be a colossal failure from this point they've still got all rounders down to 10 remember
At 25 overs we were discussing in the pub a Bairstow double ton and 450 score (Eng 180). 14 overs later Eng only scored 50 more runs...so 280 on the cards

This will be one of those cases where we compliment a fielding side during the lunch break for keeping the target down to 330 when 400 looked on at one stage, but it still proves to be comfortably enough. England made the running between overs 11-20, they don't need to do anything stupid from here on.

Pitch also looks to have slowed down a bit and the ball getting older makes it harder.
