Something isn't good because it works. Something isn't bad because it doesn't work. It's before that counts. In both cases, it was a bad strategy, against Australia and today.
No, why do you want to 'save' your power hitter anyway? Not like they sent him out at over 30 ffs. He came in at 39, that's the perfect time for someone like him to come in and smash a few.

So all of you were crying for months about how there's no hope for India if their top order collapses. They're averaging like 80 each.
This is exactly the sort of thing that can look fine at the group stage and then, oops, you're 3/20 in a WC semi final chasing 280.

Gotta disagree here. Just leaves no gunpowder in the tank if he gets out early, which is always likely with a power hitter. Shouldn't send him in before the 44th (seems arbitrary I know, but still).

And this is only because India have no one else. Wouldn't have said anything if DK had been in the side, for example.

Pant better walk into this side. **** me, even Karthik is a better bet than Rabbit Shankar. Guy surely has a jack somewhere in the BCCI.

Pakistan have been batting well for months now. Their top 3 are quality.

Shankar must be damn lucky chap, to find some games for his current form and game in this heavily competed Indian side!

If it’s gto to send Hardik in the 44th in a simulated game where you can switch batsman without dismissal, it’s throwing away money if you get an opportunity to send him in the 39th in an IRL game and don’t.

Shankar isn't that bad. He's just not suited to power hitting. And he's not good enough to bat 4.

Okay he's crap. He'd make other sides though.

Bollywood actors turning up at cricket matches always pisses me off irrationally for some reason.

There are other factors. If you have another power hitter, then it's perfectly fine. But, not if you don't. He gets out early, as is more likely than not, and you are leaving behind too many runs on the table.

I said the same thing when he succeeded against Australia as well, because it's correct. If DK/Pant is in the XI, it's fine.
