My understanding is that it was as much at the request of players and captain... so bringing him back would not be great for the change room?
Yeah, captain is injured though so he should have got a better leg if he wanted to keep him out of squad

They won't bring him back, we are ****ed tbf. Moeen will have to play as a bat and Vince will have to score 12 (10) 3 times.

That ball was complete garbage that should have been left alone or dispatched for 4. **** variations are still ****. Holder just wasn't watching the ball properly. And it's cost his team.

So I go back to my original point, Holder getting out like that was embarrassingly bad. The ball was ****, the context of the match made it worse and getting out to Root is a crime in at least eighteen countries.
He was deceived by the knuckle ball completly which is why it hit the back of the bat, the ball was a little off line but it was a good variation. Wasn't a great ball obviously but there have been worse dismissals in this innings (the first Root wicket for e.g or Gayle/Russell). Again, you haven't got a clue.

Another thought is that if I were playing us I would always choose a venue like Southampton with a huge boundary. Many of our batsmen will get themselves out eventually (indeed too much banana).

Wood found his pace again at just the right time. Has looked a totally different person this year.

I get a feeling of some serious gambhiring here...

Of course it was a knuckle ball. But an international batsman shouldn't be getting out to that ****. And if you're not watching the seam out of a spinners hand you're a complete idiot.

You're the clueless one. Being an England fan for so long had damaged your brain.

The ball was a pie, Holder played a bad shot to it. Trying to claim that it was an intentional plan to dismiss him in that manner is frankly ridiculous.

Sometimes **** does indeed get wickets

Exactly. And it was the most important wicket in terms of the context of the match, which made it even worse. The game completely tilted towards England after it. Holder needed to build an innings with Pooran for at least 8-10 overs and get Russell and the tail in with less than ten overs to go. To get out that way, to that garbage at that time to that bowler is some of the most brainless cricket I've seen. I like Holder and an usually a fan of his work but that was almost unforgivable.

Yeah the Windies have missed a trick here. 250-300 is defensible on this ground, even against England. Losing key wickets to Root when they did has totally rooted them.

I really like this Windies side but they're probably a year or two away from being the real deal.

They have shown absolutely no game sense two games running now. I think our semi finalists look pencilled in at this stage.

Anyway top performance at the end their by Archer. Cleaned up the tail and got rid of the set batsman. England were very good in the field except for the uncharacteristic dropped catch by Woakes.

Speaking of Woakes, His bowling was very intelligent today and the way he set up the opener for the inswinging Yorker was magnificent.

Yeah it's looks like you're right, alas. Hopefully the finals are great otherwise we're looking at one of the worst World Cup's.

west indies still in with a serious chance here. england are carrying two injured batsman and west indies can get the same, if not more out of this pitch than archer and wood.
