Bookies still have SA as favourites here which I think is ridiculous.
Not ridiculous. On a road, this match is 50-50 on paper now at best.

Batting looks extremely thin with Phehlukwayo at 7 and game basically riding on QdK and du Plessis I think.
Morris will bat at 7 and Lucky at 8. But yes I agree that a lot will depend on QdK and du Plessis.

I’m not trying to big up the Bangladesh bowling lineup here, but feel this thread is underestimating them. Mortaza, Fizz. Mehidy and Shakib is 40 overs of proper class bowling. This isn’t going to be handed to South Africa on any kind of platter.
They are a good bowling side on slow wickets. Will spin of Shakib, Miraz and cutters of Fizz be useful on this wicket?

In-form Amla isn't even playing. They're in with a good chance but they aren't favorites imo.

It isn’t their favoured wicket, if it was slow then they win this 95% of the time. But they’re still quality bowlers regardless of conditions.

Wicket is also the exact same strip as was used a few days ago so you would think would be more condusive to spin after having 150 overs of cricket played on it. Mehidy bowled surprisingly economically in the ODIs in NZ (not in the Tests though lol)

The Bangladesh plan according to the graphic on the screen is to take early wickets. I wonder how that differs to any other team in the tournament?

Yeah I'm not having 'ridiculous' calling it either way. I'd rather be the team with 330 in the bag but I can see the other side. I don't think we'd see the Bangladesh lower order be able to come in and swing for the fences from ball one if it weren't a great wicket to bat on.

That said, the Oval doesn't have short boundaries like a few grounds in this cup, and we saw the hash of chasing 312 that SA made here the other day, even with a bit of luck on their side. 330 is going to take a real effort.

SA to be all out for 238, just so Bangladesh stays below Aus on table ;)

SA < 226 will put Bangladesh 3rd on table above Eng

On the one hand, BD winning emboldens *****. On the other, SA losing means Burgey is right.

English weather do your thing

I've seen a couple of teams go for the funky 'keep the runs down' approach

Such a key passage of play here. I feel that if SA fall behind in the first hour of play then they're really going to struggle to get back into the game. Morale's already a bit low and BD are such a confidence team.

Mehidy with the new ball indeed. Almost gets de Kock too!
