Klusner over Kapil is ok.
Klusner over Brian Lara is not ok.

When it comes to Kapil Vs Klusner
Klusner better bat , Kapil far better bowler.
Overall Kapil for me.
Bat
Lara averaged 42@86
Klusenar averaged 124@121

Ball
Kapil averaged 32
Klusenar averaged 22

By that logic Kapil 37 at 115 > Lara

Lara 37 runs per innings
Crowe 42 runs per innings
ABDV 55 runs per innings
Klusner 34 runs per innings ( that too from a comparatively small sample size of 11 innings )

Klusner eco.rate 4.83
Kapil 3.76

Kapil 12 catches , klusner 2

See , if you look at plain stats Klusner is Bradman + Akram in world cups. But the question is , who is going to pick him as a specialist batsman , that too above the likes of Lara , Crowe , Abdv..etc ? Same applies to his bowling in comparison with Kapil.

Robin Singh took 5 wickets in India Vs SL match 1999 WC. He didn't play the next match. I think they just dropped him , considering the performance as a fluke. Same applies to Klusner stats to an extent.

Btw , Robin Singh stats in WC belong great league in first glance
Bat 31 at 81
Ball AVG 19

I'd take Klusener in world cups as a batsman before I'd take Kapil as a bowler or a batsman.

That's ok, when it's just a fancy 11 based on WC stats.

Klusner ( or Kapil ) never been a specialist bat material, let alone the giant league of Lara or ABDV.

Implying that 37=124.

I'll stop there. Any stats based argument is just wrong
If you can select Klusner as a specialist batsman above Lara using the stats ,
I too can select Kapil above Lara using the stats. ( I am making bigger mistake doesn't mean you are right. )

37 is not 124 (AVG)
But 28 is close to 34 (actual runs per innings) especially when you consider era difference and much larger sample size.

FYI ,
I am questioning Klusner inclusion as a Batsman in the team , not his worthiness to get selected in an odi 11.
5th bowler + lower order batsman - ok
6th bowler + specialist batsman- not ok

I heard that , Wasim Akram was the only unanimous choice in selecting ESPN all-time WC 11 .is that right ?

Can't believe.
What they are thinking about Sachin , McGrath , Gilly..etc

Apparently: "Twenty-two members of our staff picked their alI-time World Cup XIs, from which we compiled a composite team. A total of 39 players featured in at least one of those 22 individual teams. Ten players featured in half or more of the sides. Of these, Wasim Akram was the only unanimous choice."

Well deserved he is the greatest ODI player ever. But whoever omitted Sachin , Viv ..etc needs treatment.

Vaas ahead of Wasim.
Wasim - 38 matches 55 wickets 23.34 average 4.04 ECO 2 MOM

Vaas - 31 matches 49 wickets 21.22 average 3.97 ECO 3 MOM

I would pick Wasim because of his match-winning performance in '92 WC final and handy batting but it isn't absurd to pick Vaas over Wasim as a specialist bowler IMO

No McGrath (or Garner) in a World Cup team means we can dismiss it right off the bat.

Surprised he went for Warne over Murali.

That's 49 wickets, not 41 for Vaas. His WC record is surprisingly good.
