Liverpool could've easily got s couple of away goals there, tie would be totally different. Also lucky to give up only 3 in the end, mind you.

Messi's free kicks though. The rate at which he's converting them this season has been ridiculous.

Maybe, but I'm not one of them. Given that Barcelona and Ajax are nearly through, I hope Ajax win through their Cruyffian reliance on youth as opposed to Barcelona's use of transfers such as Suarez. Ajax are a wonderful footballing side that I wish they will win the final

Although I hope one or both make a come back and one wins the Final, it would be quite funny if Klopp and Poch won nothing again and Manure were the only one of the "big 6" not to qualify for the Champions League.

I know Barcelona routinely make big money transfers, but the team they selected yesterday contained several academy players who between them have played a combined total of nearly 2000 matches for the club.

Yeah I'd go with that. A Chelsea v Arsenal final will be great.

Hoping for Barcelona v Ajax and a Cruyff final.

A Chelsea v Arsenal final will most likely be horrendous. I am dreading such a prospect. Have to hope Chelsea somehow foul up and go out.

That said, I'm not especially confident of Arsenal beating Eintracht either. They're pretty handy.

But losing to Chelsea will never not be awful.

There's an irony in calling our Barcelona for signing Suarez that you've missed as well.

Arsenal winning the Europa would be lovely. As a standalone competition, it is more prestigious and tougher to win than the FA Cup. The downside is, a deep run in it completely screws up your league season, so for big teams it is a complete waste of effort if they fall short of winning the whole thing.

Emery certainly seems to know what he's doing in that competition, so I quite fancy their chances.

Barcelona are pretty unlikable but it does seem odd to call them out on a reliance on transfers. They obviously make them but they have the lowest reliance on them as opposed to producing their own of any big club.

I still think Liverpool are the better side, tbh. But obviously they have an absolute mountain to climb now.

My favourite thing about last night was that it took the temerity of celebrating a goal against Liverpool for some Liverpool fans to (finally) realise that Suarez is a ****.

TBF he only made the point in the context of preferring Ajax. Sure the language used was a bit harsh on Barca but that's probably because they just spanked the team he supports.

In all honesty it was a brain fade more than anything, but they have made some big name signings over the years. Suarez and Coutinho stand out in that regard. Careless wording in the post created the impression I don't have a ****ing clue about La Masia which is unfortunate.

Is that why they stand out?
Not really. The impending De Ligt transfer also added to it, baring in mind Barcelona are probably going to face De Ligt's team in the final. And then other big name players from outside the academy were also in mind such as Ronaldinho and Ronald Koeman.

Is De Ligt set to sign for Barca?

Ugh - I had hoped we could convince him to join Virgil. Although I rate Gomez highly so not the end of the world.
