Also 4 teams being relegated from league one is so strange, not sure why it ever came about.
Have never known why either but right now I am not complaining...I was when we finished 4th bottom in L1 five years ago mind you

At least it will dilute their focus on the Prem. Hopefully this might translate into Arsenal finishing above them.
Man I totally get that, but considering I still dry retch at the memory of Chelsea winning it before us, this would be scant consolation.

Oh yeah, them winning would be no good. I just had the idea of them getting to the final and then losing or something.

Just out of curiosity, do English people root for all or any other English teams in Europe apart from their own, except perhaps a direct rival? I have to admit that despite despising puddle and manure I still want them to win in Europe. A lot either root against the English teams or don't care. I couldn't imagine rooting for Exeter (is grecian still around?) but apart from that I like to see the English teams winning in Europe.

Yeah, pretty much. Obviously it doesn't bother me hugely when they don't win, but I prefer them to be successful.

I usually want the English team to lose but that’s mostly because the ones who qualify tend to be United’s rivals. Really it depends which team and who they’re against. If Spurs are playing Juventus or Real Madrid then I’ll want them to win for sure.

Don't care either way usually.

City are basically the only English team who ever play in the CL that I don't dislike, and even them winning it (when they inevitably do it at some point) will be a bit sad since we still haven't. Spurs winning it before Arsenal would absolutely finish our fanbase tbh.

Oh come on, it would be pretty dire but this is just hyperbole.

Or maybe it's not. But in that case, if this is the kind of thing that is capable of finishing the fanbase, then the fanbase would get what it deserves.

Honestly (and I do not include you or any of the other Arsenal fans who post here in this), but but Arsenal fans are some of the crappest football fans going.

Don't know what 'finish a fanbase' even means.

Don't think I have ever wanted an English team to win just because they are English, probably want them to lose more often than not. Wanting United to lose in the Champions League is one of my very oldest feelings on football although that has obviously diminished a lot over the years. Chelsea winning was awful as well and I wanted United to win when they played each other in the final.

Spurs winning would be fine but will definitely want Ajax to beat them.

I think they mean the Arsenal fan base would just go berserk, ranting etc. So just the average AFTV video really.

I wouldn't mind Spurs winning. My order of preference for the CL though is: Liverpool, Ajax (as a very close second), Spurs, Barcelona. As long as Barcelona don't win, I'd be satisfied partly because of the teams involved but also because Real Madrid and PSG wouldn't be winning it.

There's no reason to support or not support a side just because they're English, IMO. Makes no difference either way.

Like Uppercut, I tend to hope they lose as they are normally direct rivals. But if Spurs beat Ajax I'll definitely be supporting them in the final. A bit of me prefers Spurs winning it to Ajax anyway actually.

Same actually. I just really want to see this Arsenal Meltdown. For some reason their hatred of Spurs always feels disproportionate to me, like they should have outgrown it around the time of what felt like their 50th consecutive North London derby victory in 2009.

I’ve rooted against United in Europe my whole life, because I was brought up to, but like Pothas that has faded big time. United are just another boring big Prem side who never trouble the title these days, like Liverpool generally have been in the post-92 era.

I did root for Arsenal in 06 - but i was fond of that team in general. I also found myself behind Chelsea in 2012 which I didn’t really understand, just found myself rooting for them.

Generally though, them being an English club is really not here or there.
