People are claiming Maxwell was super selfless for going for that second run on 98, but there were 4 balls left. If he didn't have the strike it's not like Carey would be searching for a single so he could have another go at making 100, he'd be going for boundaries

Stephen has literally said that Carey's innings was a 'good innings under pressure' and 'match winning' that should be the key take-out.
Pretty funny how big momemtum is in ODIs. A couple months back and there is no way we'd be 4-0.

It's the exact sort of innings Dhoni has been coping flack for in recent times.
I still think Carey shouldn't be there but it's good that he's scoring runs if he is there.
Interestingly, this was his maiden half century.

I was pretty clear with the part of stephen's post that I was questioning:
In response to him saying "Can't criticise Carey too much for that innings" as if anyone would have good reason to criticise him for it.
It was clear that he wasn't just using it as figure of speech and genuinely thought that someone would have reason to because he went on to say that "on paper it looks too slow", which is ridiculous.
No it's not at all. Innings that Dhoni has been criticised for have been in very different situations, generally with more wickets in hand and a higher expectation for scoring.
Agree that I'm still not convinced on Carey, and he still has a bit to prove. Wade and Handscomb would still be superior options for WK spot in the WC for mine, at this stage.

Very true. If the selectors are going to pick him regardless of how well he does than it would be a big relief if he actually starts being good
