I'm not worried about his temperament long-term, but he does look to be struggling a little bit with his mind in ODI cricket - probably because of his poor record and feeling the pressure to prove himself.

It won't be a problem long-term, but that sort of shot does make one a bit uneasy heading into the world cup.

Still no question in my mind that he plays in our top XI regardless.

He is (relatively) young and inexperienced and from what we hear about him, pretty intense individual that expects lots from himself. So I am sure he is feeling the pressure. The frustration is that he has got out at unfortunate times, he has never failed much, as so much got to a number of good 20's 30's and 40's and not kicked on. But that is a matter of time rather than question of his temperament or ability. Will he come right by or in the WC, who knows we can hope. But you still back him because nobody in SA is a better choice than him. As you say, regardless he needs play in the XI.

Would it not be Better to play him at 4? Some of the way he's been getting out feels like he's pressurised to go for it instead of getting himself in and playing the situation. He's a naturally fast scorer without taking risks and I have no doubt he'd get better scores at 4 in the test or ODI side.

He didn't play last week and there's only the IPL after this tour. Don't think workload is an issue tbh.

Markram, Qeshile, Nortje called-up

CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) today named Multiply Titans batsman Aiden Markram and the Warriors duo of fast bowler Anrich Nortje and wicketkeeper/batsman Sinethemba Qeshile as new caps in the Standard Bank Proteas squad for the three-match KFC T20 International Series against Sri Lanka which starts next week.

Markram and Nortje are in the squad for all three matches while the 20-year-old Qeshile has been selected for the second and third matches only.

“The first match forms part of our vision 2019 to continue exploring our options for the ICC Men’s World Cup,” commented CSA National Selection Panel convener Linda Zondi, “and the squad for that match consists largely of the squads that have been doing duty in the Momentum ODI Series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. We would have liked to include Hashim Amla but unfortunately he remains unavailable because of his family situation.

“We have used our T20 International matches in the past as the first port of call to widen the pool of talent. This has resulted in Rassie van der Dussen, Gihahn Cloete, Janneman Malan and Lutho Sipamla being brought through the pipeline with considerable success during the course of the current season.

“Sinethemba Qeshile has had an outstanding rookie season of franchise cricket and is certainly one of the form batsmen in franchise cricket at the moment. He looks a really exciting prospect.

“JP Duminy will take over the captaincy for the last two matches while we give a short break to Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi who are involved across all three formats for the Proteas,” concluded Mr. Zondi.

Qeshile is definitely a surprise, especially because he hasn't played any T20s at a senior level. But it looks like they might have given up on Klaasen and so need another keeper.

I do feel that Qeshile should have had another season of domestic cricket first, but he has had a very good season, so it's not completely unjustified. There is an obvious reason why he's being fasttracked, so let's hope that it doesn't affect his development as a player.

Don't really mind about Qeshile but it would be nice for him to just concentrate on MODC 50-over comp in his first full season and play some domestic T20s to end the season. Saying that only 2 games probably over 4-days so no biggie.
