Yes, that kind of innings planning became obsolete 20 years back. Modern teams have to be very close to the required run rate to make a match of it.

Don't remember that era when only 100 scored in 30 overs...4-5 an over was always the minimum target in the early days

Don't remember that era when only 100 scored in 30 overs...4-5 an over was always the minimum target in the early days

In the 80s they used to reach 100 in 30-35 overs, after which it was a scamper to cross 200. Things improved in early 90s but still it was a rarity to score 4 runs an over in the first 30 overs.

For instance, Pakistan doubled their score in the last 15 overs in 1992 world cup final. Some Greatbatch innings were exceptions in that world cup. Things changed in the mid to late 90s though.

Chahal should have a psychological edge over Maxi. Got him out quite a few times last time Aus played ODI in India.
