I find the lack of Eddo Brandes most dissapointingBig Boned XI
Mark Taylor*
David Boon
Inzimam ul Haq
Gatting
Ranatunga
Cosgrove
Botham
Dan Smith
Warne
Hughes
Herath
I remember watching Dan Smith in a domestic one dayer and thinking he was surprisingly agile for his size. Big Merv, of course, still remains the most surprising of these improbable superstars.
I'd play Warne over Lillee for team balance reasons and the fact that Warne was the most intimidating bowler of them all.Aus Intimidators XI
1 Hayden
2 Warner
3 Bradman
4 Ponting
5 S Waugh
6 Miller
7 Gilchrist
8 M Johnson
9 Lillee
10 Thomson
11 Spofforth
Thomson and Johnson both are obvious inclusions, Lillee was also fearsome. Spofforth got the nickname Demon. Miller always the bowlers to keep up the relentless attack.
Hayden and Warner are the most attacking openers for Australia. S Waugh is in for his intimidating leader on the field with mental disintegration.
Warne clearly wasn't intimidating IndiaI'd play Warne over Lillee for team balance reasons and the fact that Warne was the most intimidating bowler of them all.
Not really. Victor Trumper's strike rate was significantly higher than Hayden.Hayden and Warner are the most attacking openers for Australia.
Aside from being better than both combined, that is.Not really. Victor Trumper's strike rate was significantly higher than Hayden.
I agree. Tiger O'Reilly's run up and hostile manner was more intimidating than Warne, for sure. Nothing much intimidating about Warne's slow, controlled run up and general approach. Sure, he put fear into the batsmens minds through the quality and perceived threat of his bowling, but you could say the same thing about O'Reilly as well.Tiger O'Reilly must've been pretty intimidating. More so than Warne IMO.
Wisden 1935 said:O'Reilly was one of the best examples in modern cricket of what could be described as a 'hostile' bowler.
David Frith said:His was more the mentality of the fast bowler, naked aggression marking his run-up, delivery and facial expression.
Arunabha Sengupta said:His action, described by his close friend and teammate , was a flurry of limbs, fire and steel-edged temper. Some suggested that the fury that accompanied his deliveries rose from the frustrations that he could not knock the batsmen over.
Miller and Gilchrist **** blokes?Aside from being better than both combined, that is.
Wasn't a dick though. A pretty likeable bloke, in fact and therefore doesn't qualify for the team.
