International Coach
James Cameron-Dow !!!! Seasoned Cape Town CC spinner set for a test debut.

Ireland play five matches in Oman and nine in Afghanistan.

"Having started off in this side as a young player in 2008, the influence of senior players like Trent Johnston, Kyle McCallan, Andrew White and Ed Joyce were huge in developing the cricketer and the person," added Stirling, who is playing in the Bangladesh Premier League.

"Myself, along with the other senior players and management in this squad, will look to create an environment where players coming through who are hungry for success can flourish both on and off the field.

"It is a big year ahead for us with the T20 World Cup Qualifiers coming up in October, so the importance is growing with each game we play."

New faces in the T20 squad include Wolves quartet Harry Tector, opener James McCollum, spinner James Cameron-Dow and 27-year old Shane Getkate.

They will be joined by wicketkeeper-batsman Lorcan Tucker and 19-year old Josh Little, who have both appeared in four T20Is.

The tour concludes with a Test against Afghanistan in India on 15-19 March, which will be Ireland's first overseas five-day game.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman has been left out of Afghanistan's 14-member Test squad that will take on Ireland next month in Dehradun. Both teams play each other in all three formats from February 21. The other notable absentee was opener Mohammad Shahzad. He couldn't find a place in the T20I side, but was included to play the ODIs and Test match.

There were three new additions in the Afghanistan squad from their inaugural Test against India last year: left-hand batsman Ikram Ali Khil, left-arm seamer Waqar Salamkheil and allrounder Sharafuddin Ashraf. Both Ikram and Waqar are yet to make an international appearance for Afghanistan. Ikram has scored 343 runs from six first-class games at an average of 38.11, while Waqar has 56 wickets at an average of 21.46 from seven first-class matches. Sharafuddin, on the other hand, has played 14 ODIs and six T20Is.

Zahir Khan, the left-arm wristspinner, found a place in both ODI and T20I squads, while left-arm orthodox spinner Zia-Ur-Rehman was included in the T20I side. Ikram is part of the ODI squad as well.

Before the only Test, the two sides will play three T20Is followed by five ODIs. For both Afghanistan and Ireland this will be their second Test. As preparation, the Afghanistan players had trained in Chennai and Bengaluru prior to the series.
Meet uncapped 18 year-old Ikram Ali Khil

Here I am humbly petitioning for the creation of an Ireland v. Afghanistan in India tour thread. Will the CW Gods smile upon me? Only time will tell

Netherlands looking good against Oman at the moment. If NL wins it looks like the hosts will crash out of the tournament.

Hamilton Masakadza has been installed as Zimbabwe captain in all three formats. Hope he has a good run & doesn't cop the axe after one bad series. Anyone here know if Graeme Cremer is close to returning to the Zim team? If at all.

He moved to Dubai for family reasons. He's hoping to find a way to make himself available for some games while living there, but the board members don't exactly love the guy in the first place so they won't be moving heaven and earth to rule him eligible.

ZC just can't stop shooting themselves in the foot, can they? Now that Hami is in the hot seat I'm slightly worried they'll curtail his career in the worst way possible.
