*Official* India Tour of New Zealand 2019

I guess I don't entirely understand the point though. Whether the game starts at 8:30 or 7, it's still going to be played entirely within the confines of the Indian audience's working day, and as such I can't imagine it'd have too big of an impact on ratings. I'm assuming the NZC must have received advice to the contrary, but it just seems a little weird.

3pm is too late to start an ODI the day before school starts as well, so they just clearly don't give a **** about bringing in big crowds when Indian TV money is on the table.

Kinda lame Pant has to wait. Got a feeling he's a potential match winner. His knock against us in Sydney really impressed me

You'd think if he did something special in the t20 series it may help his cause

It's ridiculous because he's a better player than at least three others in that side. Based on his recent performances, he is showing greater nuance with every outing, and can easily slot in anywhere from 4 to 7. How many WCs does a player get to play over a career? Four if they're consistent? To deprive someone like him of a once-in-4-years spot is criminal.

Vijay Shankar is certain not to be part of world cup squad. Would have made sense to give a couple of games to Pant instead of him in New Zealand.

So many kids were falling asleep in my section of the crowd on Sunday night, which resulted in the families leaving early. Most of them were Indian families, actually. I was struggling myself, knowing I had to be up at 7am the next day for work. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough to the train when Boult got out. Made it home at 11:30 or so in the end.

Btw, am I right that tomorrow's T20 starts at 8:30pm local time and ends at midnight? If so, good luck getting any families with young kids to come along. I understand NZC bases their financial solvency on the Indian TV audience, but there has to be a balance struck between optimising revenues and providing a reasonable product for local fans.
Tbf, I'm guessing any dollars lost from not packing the stadium will be peanuts compared to providing the India broadcasters their perfect timings.

It wouldn't make a difference to the Indian viewership if it starts a couple of hours earlier.

Presumably it does as far as the broadcaster's concerned given there's no other logical explanation for such a late start.

It absolutely would, just shifting it to a PM time slot will see a bump in the viewership and ad revenue.

Still probably wouldn’t even be a fraction of the India evening range though.

this is why im surprised india aren't keen to jam in some day night test cricket here at the expense of the stupid bangladesh odis and t20s tbh. that's 5 days of ads to thrash at their local audience during the afternoon.

You reckon their bowling's weak at the moment? I'd hate to see them when they're strong. *gulp*
Yeah silly to suggest their bowling is anything near weak atm. Can't remember them having so many bowling bases covered at the same time. Saying nothing about the fact the could well have their best ever pace bowler in the mix atm.

Finding it tough to get up for this T20 series following that toothless performance from NZ in the ODIs, but I'll watch.

With Neesham on the comeback trail and looking in good touch why would you not give him as much game time as possible? Unless they have fitness concerns or something.
